    Default Achievements 2010

    Hey guys

Just curious what goals you set for yourself this year and wondering if you managed to achieve them?

Was there something you didn't plan on having as a goal that just worked itself into your life?

I know it's only mid-October and I'm asking about the whole year, but the year is almost over so no time like the present

    Cheers

2010 was an exciting year for me. I planned on expanding my portfolio by adding 3 new portals, one casino, one slots and one affiliate facing site.

My casino site went live as planned but landed in Google's sand box for over three months. They finally began adding my pages to their index a few weeks ago, whew!

My Affiliate Aid site went live as planned and is coming along very nicely, although I'm not adding content as quickly or regularly as I would like.

I didn't plan on inheriting the GAU but when it landed in my lap, I was happy to run with it. Running the Union is a time consuming job though....

So I didn't get my slots site up yet even though I had planned to launch it in September. I am also behind schedule on my other sites as far as adding reviews, etc.

To those AM's who keep looking for their content to appear - be patient, it is coming, I promise - just not as quickly as I would like.

Financially, this year began on a downturn but things are turning around. September was the best month of the year for me - commission wise. I'm hopeful this is the beginning of a very successful 2011.

All in all, 2010 was a good year and I achieved most of my goals.

Work wise my main goal was to form my company (check!), research the industry (check!), build my first site (check!... although there is still much to be done) and to start acquiring players (check - albiet only a couple so far....).

Goals still unfulfilled for the year include ending the year on a net profit (although this goal is for the company year so I have until march 2011!) and developing a second site that focuses on live poker - this will have a strong offline presence in london (thats the plan at least).

From my personal life completed goals include planning a wedding and getting married. I also wanted to get back into running to do the snowdon marathon again, but that's in a couple of weeks and I've done no training! Maybe next year... And my wife and I want to learn japanese!

    What about you, Renee?

Well it sounds like you both have gotten through some great stuff.

@thepokerkeep - I'm glad your commissions are turning upward. Definitely great to hear. The next couple of months seem to be the stronger ones so hopefully it will only go up from here..

@baldidiot - Congrats on the wedding! Photos?

Japanese! Wow. Good luck with that and let us know how you go. I think the hardest part may be just learning to read and write. I went to Greek school quite a few years back and I can now read and write Greek, but the hardest thing was learning the alphabet. Once I learnt that it was so easy. It's weird to think I can read it like I'm reading my own native language..

One question - why Japanese? It's always interesting to know why people want to learn certain languages whether its because they want to visit the country or just for the sake of learning something new.

You know I had a heap of goals I was thinking about yesterday that I had achieved or not achieved and for the life of me cant think of them now..

    A few small personal ones:

    - Try to smile more - since I got my braces I rarely smile. Thank god they are coming off in 5 days so that will help

    - Go on a holiday - I NEVER go on holidays, but I'm going to South Africa at the end of November.

    - Lose some weight. That is one that I've failed.
    - Get fitter - this is something I've succeeded in. I've started running (and if it wasnt for me being sick this week I'd be going this week) but I've managed to increase the distance I'm able to run every time which is something I've been wanting to do for years, so I'm very happy about that.

    - Start playing a sport. Since the braces I've not really played much because I have to mold a new mouthguard every week and its bloody expensive.. So playing soccer and volleyball stopped for a long time. I'm starting to play touch football in 2 weeks which I wasn't happy about to start with, because I'm not a fan of football (rugby), but I'm starting to get excited just because it's a team sport, and I'm very much a team sport person.

    - Move closer to work - accomplished. Rather than spending 4 hours per day in a car now I spend 40 minutes

These are the only things I can think of.. It's not very exciting..

I only had the one goal this year: Lose 15kg.

I've lost 20. So far so good. Another 5 or so wouldn't hurt at all, so that's the goal for the rest of the year.

Of course, there were secondary objectives like playing sport, learning to surf etc but these could only really come into play once goal 1 has been achieved.

If I can speak for my personal goals

    - Bachelor of Science in Communication --- accomplished!
    - Brand new car -- yeah!
    - Learn more daily -- I have joined the Poker network this year and I'm learning a lot of this business, also doing online degrees Internet Marketing and Freelance writing.
    - Be more creative --- two of my hobbies are crochet and giftwrapping.
    - Travel more --- I love to travel as soon as I get the chance from work... In July I went to Suriname and I'm planning a trip to NY in December.

Uhm I'm sure I do have more.. just can't recall them now... lol. There are also of course a few that I can't met yet but hope to be able soon to meet those goals.

Well done everyone. Some good achievements.

Fortunately I keep a blog with a few achievements so looking at that:

    - read Catcher In The Rye (started small...) and very disappointed.
    - saw a sunrise and sunset over the water in the same day. Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
    - surfed in Hawaii.
    - saw a space shuttle launch live. All right, I was 30 miles away, however it was the final night launch so the bright orange to white glow was pretty cool.
    - lived in five different countries by continuing to travel around the world. Will spend less than four months in Australia this year.
    - average an hour a day of exercise.

Notice none of these are work related.

Sadly the supermodel hasn't appeared in my life yet, although there's still 2.5 months to go...
    James

    That'd be great!

My mum taught me to crochet when I was much younger because it's somewhat of a tradition in our family.. I crocheted a few things but then of course when you're so young you move onto other things..

I tried knitting for awhile too, and was ok at it, but got sick of losing the wool over the needles all the time..

    My grandmother crochets EVERYTHING though..

I thought myself to crochet... and have seen my grandma when I was about 10. You need to be really patient and have time for it...

Really cool... maybe you can try to get the pattern from her for me lol

I tried to attached an example of my amateur crochet style, but seems that I can't browse it from my computer. Need a URL.

Hmm thats a little strange that you cant attach..

My grandmother doesnt do it from a pattern.. I think because shes been doing it for so long.. Maybe 50 odd years...

i cant image they would be hard.. I think from memory you have to do them in more than one piece, then put them together.. I'll take some pics on the weekend and send them over to you - you may be able to just make them from the pics

We went last year and decided that it would be cool to learn Japanese and go back actually being able to speak the language! Plus we have a couple of friends who live over there now.

Don't miss out on the holidays, Renee!

I had only one goal which I think I will miss - becoming a millionaire 2010

I think it is not too bad not to have concrete goals when you are 75. There is only one important goal for me - to keep things going without serious setbacks. Apart from the ugly hacker attack, I can't say that any real setback has happened to me.

Oh! I had another goal which I am not sure if I can achieve - creating another site. I think I will have to declare that as my goal for 2011.

However, there is one goal of my wife which I have missed - reducing my weight by 10 kg. Since I have stopped weighing myself, I don't even know by how far I have missed my wife's goal.

    baldidiot - that sounds great!
It's always easier learning when you're doing it with someone else too..
    Good luck

Nando - There are still 2.5 months left in the year - plenty of time to lose 10kg!

I hate to say it, but if we're talking about our goals of being a millionaire, we are on the same boat because it didn't happen to me yet either.
