Default The Hidden Cost of AI Content in iGaming SEO

While working on a few projects of late, I’ve come across a pattern that needs flagging and addressing. Many sites are properly investing in their homepage and their core pages but then attempt to scale the rest of their content using AI drafts and cleanup.

On paper, that might look efficient - certainly from a cost perspective. In reality, it creates a serious structural problem, with content often ending up inconsistent in tone and intent, factually weak and inaccurate (especially in relation to bonuses, T&Cs, and geo-restrictions). Moreover, your content lacks experience signals and indications of personal testing.

SEO has moved on. It’s no longer solely about keywords. Google weighs experience and trust signals, especially in the iGaming world. Follow this emerging pattern, and you'll end up with strong top-level pages but critically weak supporting content - the opposite of what Google demands.

The issue you’ve created effectively means your internal linking strength is low, you aren’t a topical authority, and your site lacks conversion trust.

Yet, the biggest issue I’ve seen isn’t AI itself. It’s how it is used. Cleanup doesn’t really mean cleanup. To properly fix AI-generated content, you need to recheck the data yourself, restructure sections accordingly, and add your own content based on your real-world experience. Clearly, this isn’t the low-cost task everyone initially envisions.

AI works best when used as a starting layer, not as a shortcut for scaling websites and brands. If your goal is long-term authority (especially in emerging iGaming markets like Ontario and India), then you need your content to hold up.

curious to know how are you approaching this issue?

Is it time to turn back the clock so you can keep tighter control over the quality of your content?

If so, reach out for help executing a full-content strategy for your entire brand.

Main problem with AI is that is writing the same thing for many other SEOs/webmasters, meaning there is no originality, thus meaning Google will not find your website interesting.

You're 100% correct. That's the "hidden cost" I'm referring to. A general SEO writer can be just as dangerous as basic AI. In iGaming, if the writer doesn't understand what makes a sticky bonus different from wagering requirements, content will go nowhere. My point is that scaling through subpar AI or cheap labor typically kills off expertise.

I agree with some of your points, but I’d argue that this is more about poor and careless use of AI rather than a generalized consequence of it.

The same applies to content writers. If you go for the cheapest option on a platform like Fiverr (nothing against it, I worked on some gigs there early on) and don’t verify the result, chances are the content will be subpar. But any writer, even a generalist, should understand the basics of what they’re writing about and check the information; that’s not an extra, it’s part of the job.

    Yes and no

the text is optimized for the keywords

in the background strong backlinks (high dr domains) are mirrored to the money site, the burner domain.

    that is why "this" ranks.

Personally, I use AI for writing to save time, but it needs to be corrected afterward. It creates a good starting point, but the text is generic and often the same as other AI-generated sites. I also use it to crawl Google and other sites to see which pages need optimization and my real-time rankings. (Cost ≈ 100$/monthly)

I think it's a tool that webmasters can use every day, but it should be used with caution. We're giving instructions to AI, not taking responsibility.
By the way, I wonder if AI-generated content isn't the most optimized for AI search? Do models like ChatGPT understand native languages better, or do they prioritize AI-generated text?

In an industry that is all about chasing money it comes as no big surprise that the cheapest option tends to be the top choice. It's also an unfortunate effect of how our economy tends to work in general. Right now it seems like content doesn't matter all that much anyway, as black hat tactics are way too powerful and Google is one big mess.

...that said, once this storm clears it's gonna take all that garbage out with it. Proper branding and voice is what's coming next, not penny per word spam.
