Holy crap, PinnacleSports pulls out of U.S. market!!!

PinnacleSports.com no longer accepts wagers from U.S. customers!

I just logged into my account and got the following message:

Dear Pinnacle Sports' Client,
Please note that any wagers currently pending in your account will be honored by Pinnacle Sports. As your wagers are graded, you may use the Cashier of your account to request any balance due.

You may, of course, use your Cashier now to request a withdrawal for your current balance.

This is a sad day. In my opinion, Pinnacle was the best sportsbook around. Their betting lines were the best available and they always had a massive amount of propositions on a variety of sports and events all over the world. Furthermore, the minimum bet was one dollar, while most other sites have a minimum bet of five dollars. This site made the 2006 March Madness tournament and baseball season very fun for me.

Does anybody work with them? Any idea if the afilliate program is going to change in any ways?

Effective Immediately:

After careful consideration, Pinnacle Sports has chosen to voluntarily exit the U.S. market. Accordingly, wagers will no longer be accepted from clients located within the U.S. as of Thursday 11th January 2007.

We would however like to assure you that Pinnacle Sports will continue to provide all International clients with the same great value they have come to expect from the World's leading online sports book. With the exception of U.S. play, it will be business as usual in all other respects.

Accordingly, all commission payment schedules remain the same and you are naturally entitled to any commission earned to date from the players that you have referred and from any international players you refer in future. To confirm, the next settle is a full settle as of the NFL Super Bowl, 4 February 2007. All commission available in your commission account will be paid at this time.

Any of your U.S. clients that are affected will be required to withdraw their balances using the Cashier function on their account. Please note that any of your referred players' pending wagers will be honored by Pinnacle Sports and you will be entitled to any commission generated as a result. As your clients' wagers are graded, they may use the Cashier function to request any balance due.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your understanding and look forward to working with you in future to further develop your international player base.

Anyone knows what precipated this action so suddenly? I'd expect something truly voluntary to be set forth at a given date... preferrably after the NFL playoffs.

Oddly, I also received an email from Gamblegains.com (You Wager) with basically the same message. (Although I no longer am a member there).

Some are wondering if they were going to leave anyway after Superbowl and just called in quits now?

It is rather odd and/or coincidential. I have no clear idea.
