That is interesting, you might be correct about geo affecting it,

If you ever get the "you only got 3 videos left to watch" that is the end of it and from there on you will want to do youtube in an incognito window.

Bump, wanted to see where everyone was at with this issue. I"m seeing inconsistent blocking where sometimes new tabs work, sometimes they don't, and sometimes same window affiliate links are blocked. Has much changed here in the last couple of years?

I just click on them - both in new tab, same tab, and incognito. I'm seeing massive inconsistencies in the way they are treated.

Sorry to keep asking, but which Adblockers are you testing against?

I direct to a local same domain page in a new window, then re-direct to the casino. uBlock, malware running with no issues (I think)

Adblock Plus, AdGuard, Ublock, and the built in ad blocking with Chrome.

I'm doing some testing this morning, and I'm finding one thing is consistent: it seems adblockers block every link from Income Access (Caesars/FanDuel) while operators using proprietary backends (DraftKings/BetMGM) don't have issues.

So a solution is to open a n ew window on your domain and have the user click to open in that same window, or use JS to to click for them. I would like to know if people have add block to decide if this is required but I have not found any opensource solution to detecting add block software, if anyone knows of any let me know. Seems like the old methods were to push a spammy looking add behind the scene and see if it gets removed from the UI but i think that no longer works.

Thanks for this. Are there any good plugins for the meta refresh? Ideally one where you can customise the waiting page, Gamblingdotcom does a nice job

uBlock Origin blocks the link whether its in same same window and new tab so opening in same tab still brings up block screen if its in their block list. I just came across this today. For adblocker it just completely blocks you from opening the aff link if its set to open in new tab, sometimes it even hides the CTA button that has the link.

I've sent them a message before, and to my surprise they actually replied. However their response was that ALL affiliate links get tagged as "spam" and that there's no workaround. The best solution for this at the moment is mobile traffic, as there are no extensions for mobiles atm and those apps that help, are not as popular.

And every single developer that develops the blockers, have websites and use affiliate links, and makes sure to whitelist "their" links and domains.

Thats sad. Their response is "I dont care" Its costing affiliates the loss in commissions because of their product. I can understand that if the ad is unsolicited, but if a user comes on his own to affiliatesitedotcom and is presented with listings they should not be applying their conditions on the local CTA buttons/text links - it should ignore that within the code. Also with almost every news site now demanding they switch off the adblocker I'm sure that annoys the end user too (nothing is for free) They should be sued for damages.

One potential solution could be to utilize JavaScript to open the affiliate link in a new window. Ad blockers typically target standard HTML link elements, but JavaScript-based actions may bypass these blockers. You can try using JavaScript to create a new window with the affiliate link when the user clicks on a designated button or link on your website. This method may help bypass ad blocking software and ensure that the affiliate link opens in a new window as desired.
