Watch the video and it will help you draw your own conclusions.
Matt Cutts is head of the webspam AT GOOGLE, or you could read what seo wannabes want you to believe on little blogs and pages around the net that do most of their posting to get a link.
Matt tried to detail what signals they do watch and what they don't.

While I believe that facebook and twitter hold significant weight in terms of establishing a social presence, and do to some degree show how popular a site might be or how much it engages its followers/visitors, other social bookmarking/network sites are pure garbage and hold no value whatsoever. These are social bookmarking sites that have long lists of bookmarked urls that seem to scroll down forever from every category under the sun that no one will ever see, let alone visit.
