    Default How would I sell?

I'm curious what the procedure is to sell www.gamblingwhore.com

It's a site I pay for monthly ( hosting and domain name ) and I am wondering if I wished to sell, how do I go about transferring it over to someone else? How do I transfer the affiliate accounts? How much is my site worth?

I have a large number of bills to pay and my site is decent but not nearly enough to live off of at this time and pay my bills.

I really ant to go back to school and am simply interested in how to get the selling ball rolling.

There is a x factor of revenue method which is most popular ,as for what yours would be worth obviously USA affiliate accounts are worth significantly less than non USA. As for process ,escrow is the safest for buyer and selling.Send me some stats and I will let you know if we are interested

    Hi Chris,

Its pretty simple really to sell a site. Depends who your with and who the buyer is with. or example if your both with Go Daddy you can do an easy push and its almost instant.

It would appear your not with them though by the sounds of it. So the steps are still pretty easy.

    1. Find a buyer - I would say the worth of the site is 12 months revenue usually that's a good start. Plus maybe a little premium for SEO work you put into it and articles and stuff. So if it made like 1K per month you could sell lets say 15K. Income would need to be constant though. If fluctuates in income I would say maybe 1/2 that....

    2. After you find a buyer and agree on price you transfer the domain to them via the registrar you use. You need to give them the admin rights - and edit the email address on your domain to theirs. They will get an authorization code and in their end will initiate a transfer with the code and pay for a full year of domain.

    3. One the domain is with them you simply transfer them the files.

Pretty straight forward but takes about a week to completion.

I would use escrow for the transaction

Would I sell the domains including affiliate accounts or simply leave them with just the domain?

    Hi PumaCat,

GFPC and casinobonusguy have hit the nail on the head with this one, I'd certainly re-iterate the point GFPC made about using an Escrow service (I recommend escrow.com), this is sometimes annoying but could save you losing your domain to a scammer or getting a chargeback once the payment has been made.

I've not been in the buying sites business seriously for a while but if you can't find a buyer here I'd certainly recommend flippa.com - it used to be known as sitepoint and I found it quite valuable back in the day. By looking through here at similar sales you should be able to get an idea of the stats that people list to sell etc.

I'd imagine if you are selling the site based on current player revenue you would need to keep the affiliate accounts, however I think it varies based on the industry.

    Cheers,
    Dave

I can vouch for sedo.com too, they might send u a lot of emails while the process is happening, but it keeps you in the loop of the domain transfer, and it sends emails to the seller, buyer promoting them on what to do next. I bought a domain via sedo.com and I was able to get the domain within 2-3 days. I thought it was going to be a painful process, but it went smoothly.
