Well now that I'm back from my mini-vacation, I have accumulated a New Moon calendar as well as a New Moon tshirt with Edward (compliments of my partner's mother who is here from South Africa - she has won my heart already).

    Only 8.5 days to go!
    YAY!

You know I watched half an episode of this show and hated it.. their teeth are horrible and look totally fake!

Maybe I'll have to give it another go, but without Edward Cullen it just wont win me over

For real bad-ass vampires (and other ungodly creatures) being slain by even bigger bad-ass hunters, you can't beat SUPERNATURAL.

After having to sit through 2 seasons of True Blood, and of course, Twilight, I was so happy to see the Winchester boys cut off vampire heads without first having a moral dilemma about whether it would be right to "be" with them.

...and of course the sweet sweet 67 Chevy Impala and KICK-ASS soundtrack make it that much better.

It's almost midday.. I've had only 4 hours sleep and the movie was totally worth it.

    OMFG

I even dreamt about them last night. For the ladies - if you didn't see the movie last night, go ASAP.
    EYE CANDY..

I think I will be dreaming about that body til I die.
    Wow.

    Back to daydreaming....

Here's a piece from a few months back about how the town or Forks has been transformed by the success of these books and movies..

Schalk, Im going to have to side with you on this one. Vampires are the trendiest thing since Hush Puppies back in the 90's.

On a side note, that is one slickster pose you got goin on with Robert Pattinson.

Yep apparently he believes in the old "if i dont wash my hair, it starts to wash itself"

While it is actually true - that it will wash itself - the only problem is that it stinks!
Thats one thing I wouldn't be able to do - sorry RPatts but if you're not gonna wash, then you're gonna be going to bed with your hand.

Just quietly, if there was anything other than talking involved, I would surely rather it with "Jacob"... that body. Still drooling over here.

Wow, someone is horny! You women are so shallow, we're more than pieces of meat! (btw, the actor that plays Jacob is 17......)

What I find really amusing about all these vampire flicks is no one seems to take into account that the male vampire in these situations is generally hundreds of years old while the female they are wooing is in her teens or perhaps early 20's.

As far as Twilight goes, my wife read the books and I went to see the movie with her and thought it was awful. Overly rushed without explaining much, just hurrying through the story.

And the girl playing Bella is like a fricken robot, no acting chops at all. Same with that weak-ass Vampire Diaries show, the main girl there is cute but her acting is just meh.

Of course, the ladies go crazy over the show because of the guys showing off their 7-minute abs.

I enjoy True Blood on HBO, but I'm not much of a fan of the main vampire Bill Compton. The trend these days seems to be the male vampire who resists his urge for blood because of his undying (pun intended) love for a female.

Personally, I think a vampire should man-up and not be something he isn't. This type of storyline only serves to give females a fantasy image of a guy so madly in love with her that he'd change everything about himself to be with her.

This makes it REALLY difficult for us guys when you get us and find we want to sit on the couch in our boxers playing Xbox all day

Perhaps this new trend in pansy vampires who eat tofu and drink the blood of small animals or manufactured blood beverages matches up with girls recent fascination with "emo" guys (you know, those fop-haired pansies who paint their nails black and wear eyeliner and talk about their feelings or some such crap)

What happened to men being men? Stop trying to feminize us!

As was mentioned previously, I'm also a fan of the movies The Lost Boys and From Dusk Til Dawn (Salma Hayek was frigging smoking in that flick!)

Now I feel the need to go drink a beer or some hard liquor and go chop down a tree or something else manly, to wash the stink of this emo fad off me.

    Ok ok, you got me...

I have to say I'd never actually consider getting down and dirty with a guy so young, but in this case I might make an exception.

Saw the movie again yesterday and it was just as good seeing that "piece of meat" as the first time...

I have to agree that the movies were rushed compared to the books, but to be honest if they were going to make it as close to the book as possible you'd have movies that are 5 hours long. I doubt anyone would want to sit through that apart from the hardcore fans.

I was discussing this with my other half last night. There were so many things they left out of the movies that I thought were important, like the scene in the first book where she goes to Biology and faints from the smell of the blood. I think that was important for the story of the last book and her "gift" once she has been changed.

The one thing I hated about the second movie was that the eye colours were far too obvious. In the first movie the human eating vampires' eyes were not very noticeable. You could only see that they were red once the camera got close. In the second movie they stood out like a sore thumb, as did the light brown coloured eyes of the "vegetarian" vampires.

I also noticed that in the scene at Volterra, Edward had massive dark patches under his eyes, which would say to me that he has lost sleep, but considering he doesn't sleep, this ruined that part for me. The makeup overall was far too exaggerated on the vampires.

All I have to say is thank god someone new is making Eclipse.

Now, only 7 months til it comes out.

I didn't read the books, so I'm in no way comparing the movies to the books.

I've only seen the first Twilight, but felt that the story and relationship was rushed, the final "big" fight scene was lame and a real letdown, etc.

I just felt that the movie fell flat and didn't get me excited for the series.

With the Harry Potter series, I found the first few movies enjoyable, but recently the movies have felt rushed with a lot of stuff passed over.

It seems like they're thrusting Harry into a big confrontation and he just doesn't come across as anywhere near ready to battle Voldamort given what they've shown us so far, so I feel that's rather undeveloped as well.

All in all, I feel most movies today are rather dumbed down, rely too much on crappy CGI and just don't have the strength of movies I grew up with.

You know what this reminds me of? When I listened to a lady who told me that the movie 300 was "da bomb"

Women are way too easily influenced by 7-minute abs

But I will say that werewolves are way cooler than vampires. And I'm not talking about cgi werewolves, I'm talking old school:

Isn't it that we always want what we can't have?

BTW - 300 was not the bomb, but the guys had remarkable abs. It's like a fine piece of artwork that you must admire.

I don't think these boards permit embedded flash, so I created a forum post at PokerNations with a couple of playable videos spoofing the Twilight Series (from Attack of the Show on G4)

I think you'll all get a kick out of them, especially the 2nd one!
