Sorry BB1, I guess I continue to be not clear, because you have clearly missed completely what I have tried to say. I firmly believe that our strategy minimizes the chance that a player will end up playing at the rogue gaming site.

There are only two choices from my perspective:

Alternative 1: A page where we try once to deter the player, and they hit the back button to go onto the next search result; or

Alternative 2: A page where we try to deter the player, but if they are not not detered and say they want to visit the site then we take them to an overlay where we can make a second, relatively stronger attempt to deter them.

Remember, these are folks who are searching for the specific rogue property generally, not searching on some generic keyword. We feel the message we will give them will be stronger than the message they are likely to get elsewhere, if they get any negative message at all.

For that reason I firmly believe that strategy 2, if you look at the overall actions taken by a player on the web overall, rather than just our our site, makes it less likely a player will visit the rogue site with the intention of playing there.

And strategy 2 cannot be persued without lying to the visitor without having a link to the property. Do you understand that it is impossible to persue strategy 2 without including a link?

    Mi Michael,

first of all. all due respect sir, because you've earned it.

    now that said:

You yourself said that something like 70% are stopped from further seeking that casino (that's not exact quote but the jist as I understood it anyway) ... but that means that 30% are going thru.

If I were a casino I'd love to have 30% of your traffic (for our keyword) ... for free. Under any circumstances.

I say that because I saw what happened when I did essentially the same thing you're doing now in that I provided a huge red warning and progressed to the point where I was practically promising people they'd be infected with a virus and they were still clicking thru for that free chip offer. I learned from that - that it doesnt' matter how big your warning is ... nor will it matter how many pages of warnings you make them go thru .. the best thing is to NOT provide the surfer a link to that place. I'll never believe differenct after seeing that with my own eyes.

further is that by providing a link then CC is in effect gaining an edge over the entire rest of the community that has chosen to not link to the unscrupulous casino ... because from a surfer's POV ... CC is the place to go to find a link when you can't find it anywhere else. I know its not your intention but you are in effect placing CC in a position of being the resource to turn to ... when you can't find it anywhere else. That's cool to be when its not a situation like this .., CC is that anyway ... but its not cool if everybody else has agreed to blacklist/rogue the casino.

it creates an upfair playing field IMO but I'll of course abide by the majority ... but as now, I have to call unfair.

Some of the people may remember what I'm talking about ... that i talked with privately about that situation so I'm going to give some details as if this rings a bell to anybody ... please speak up.

The casino in question was silver sands.

I was getting traffic for the keyword silver sands, silver sands review, silvers sands casino.

They had been caught by myself and TopBoss in a lie a while before this happened ... and I basically started warning people away after that because I saw trouble coming or feared it anyway.

so some time went by my stats at SS showed that I was still getting click-thrus and still getting sign ups ... not so much depositors but then anybody running a free chip offer knows they are few and far between ... but they do happen.

I increased the size of the warning, really got strong worded ... Michael I don't know what I could have done more ... to discourage people from clicking thru to that casino and yet they went by my warnings like it was a bug on the road and they were driving steam rollers.

anyway maybe somebody out there remembers me asking them what to do about the situation?

I ended up removing the link to the casino.

I can't help it if the next guy didn't do his job and also not provide a link ... but it all has to start somewhere.

Even if it is smelly garbage players click on links you tell them not to especially if the casino accepts US players and / or offers free chips.

Players just will not listen until it is too late by own experience and complain on message boards like casino meister.

    Hi again all (Heather),

ya I was aware you continued with them and also aware they never did you wrong but running a guarantee ... its just not worth takiing the chance.

besides ... once lied to .... they'll tell you as many lies as it takes to accomplish their goal. And we did catch that guy red-handed lol.

Even if it is smelly garbage players click on links you tell them not to especially if the casino accepts US players and / or offers free chips.

probably said better above ... but that's my point.

There's no winning if you provide a link to the scoundrel places. I very much respect Michael and only a fool would step up and say he's not done a hell of a lot right ... but in this instance ... and not only based on my own extreme experience in this area ... but also based on Mr C's own words that something like 70% is diverted .. welll that means 30% is getting thru and ... here's the important part ... we MUST all assume the next person is doing their part ... by NOT linking to the casino in question.

It just doesn't work in a fair manner to all involved if everybody doesn't take the same approach thus continuing a level playing field. (IMHO).

Sorry BB1, I guess I continue to be not clear, because you have clearly missed completely what I have tried to say. I firmly believe that our strategy minimizes the chance that a player will end up playing at the rogue gaming site.
Nah I understood you perfectly but we'll have to agree to disagree on this matter due to my own personal experience I cannot be swayed. I tried too hard and in too many ways to ever be convinced you can do more good than damage by having a link to the casino.
