Default Super Bowl Aftermath? Did you win or lose?

As we all know in this business, our players bets determine our wins and losses via sportsbook. If our players win, affiliates lose. Books attempt to balance the wins and losses by manipulating the odds, blah blah.

However, despite all of that, when big sporting events happen, an affiliate will often see large wins/losses depending on how many players they have, how well the bookie handled the bets, and other factors.

Our players kicked our asses in the Super Bowl in 2021.

We won at our second, third, fourth, and fifth tier sports book offerings.

We lost big at our top sports book offering.

In aggregate, 2+3+4+5 wins was not nearly enough to offset the losses in #1.

For the sake of argument, and most affiliate programs will tell you this, poker traffic yields a different breed of sports bettor and casino gambler, i.e. customers who come in through poker channels are often bet more sharply on sports and do not degen as much in the casinos as players recruited via sports and casino channels.

With that said, we still would have expected to be net winners in the Super Bowl betting.

    Damn, there's always next year!

This is what I like about CPA agreements. I know the house always wins in the long run.

UK the Grand National could be a make or break day on rev share.

Meh, we make so much more in aggregate on rev-share than CPA.

Rev-share is a no brainer, even if we have losing days because of outlier events.

The only argument for CPA I have ever seen that made sense to me is that the affiliate can get the money up front. Thus if the affiliate thinks the gaming affiliate program may go out of business sooner rather than later, getting the money in hand ensures against future default.

IMO this is a pretty big gamble when the BEST you could hope to achieve (in my understanding, we don't do CPA) is 80% of the average value of players in a CPA form. My counter-argument to that is, don't work with programs that you fear will close down!

Rev Share is better in the long run 100%. But in the regulated US market we don't really have a choice, except in NJ and PA where have to apply for a rev share license.

It is better to plant potatoes than to be part of any regulated markets.

I won a decent, but not huge money, through SB. I liked new RMP number.

But overall we all won, because we all hodl bitcoin. During the sb started this crazy BTC pump, so I really do not care.

We took Tampa Bay +3.5 point start - it was a popular preview ...
But somehow we still won on the game as people took other bet and prop bets etc.

As for Rev-Share v CPA debate - rev-share all the way for us.
The "legal" US market is forced CPA and the current UK market is pretty awful - very low value - perhaps that's why AATB prefers CPA ?
But if you're delivering low REV value via CPA - you're going to lose that deal.

I think Tesla/Elon Musk buying 1.5 billion in BTC may have opened the proverbial flood gates.
