    Default Just another backlink scammer

    Skype details:
    Mikol S (live:13.raptik)

    Skrill details:
    Anuj Chattri
    gamingunited8@gmail.com

He is selling homepage links on pretty desirable sites for high but fair amount of money.
Links gone online, I paid, and one week later the link goes offline.

I guess the real fee for the link is much higher as agreed and he didn't paid the site owner at all and he removed the "unpaid" link.

Probably my own fault ... If something seems too good to be true, it probably is (not?).

And the moral of the story, Paypal and its buyer protection would be the better choice ...

It's people like this that give good guys (like us) a bad name. If something sounds too good to be true, it normally is......

Did you do it through PayPal? If so see if you can do a claim, or try raise a charge back with your bank.

During the years Paypal is having and will have more advantages over Skrill.

Just an advice, if a guy is from India, look around 10 times, there is always a fraud scheme.

@eenzo - I hope you did not pay too much for the backlinks.

This is one reason to always go through the site itself when buying links, otherwise you are either paying a middleman, or a scam artist.

PayPal isn't flawless although generally the better way to pay when buying links or content. I have had them decide against a few cases in the past when I was in the right, I'm not a massive fan.

PayPal can be pretty useless in these situations. Try do a chargeback through the bank seeing that works

Thanks for sharing. There are many like this one, they are using names and Email adresses that sounds English to gain trust, and when it comes to payment you see you are paying to some Gupta guy. My experience is 2 times everything ok, and one time the seller did not even bother with link placement, just received Skrill payment and I never heard of him again. Few days ago I buyed again, everything ok so far, I promised maybe I´ll buy some more if everything will be ok, so maybe this might do the trick. If something will go wrong I´ll post the contact info here for sure. But it´s not a problem for the scammers to create another one instantly

There are a lot of link sellers that represent other websites but the only ones I know to be reputable don’t use gmail and have some sort of professional email associated with some marketing website or agency.

Short story, paid some cash to a scammer. Relayed story (with proof) to account manager, and he was able to have that money reversed, back to my account. I believe the scam account was closed. If you have an accounts manager, you maybe able to do the same

On my business email addy, and after receiving literally oddles of cr#p from unknown's, I blacklisted a large % of free email accounts, years ago. A lot of scammers and such use gmail, because it doesn't pass the originating (sender's) IP. Granted, a sender could be using a bot or a VPN etc.

However, if a legit entity wants to conduct bona fide business with me, then they'll have a domain, and email attached. If not, and they're using gmail etc., etc., then chances are they're dodgy, or using (especially gmail) to hide their IP. Either way, their toast!

NB - don't know the sender, always pull the raw email headers. While the received email may look like a valid business domain, it could be getting sent thru gmail, which again, can find you getting scr#wed over.

    Hi Guys,

I just want to add my latest experience. I ordered links from David Nixon (davidnixonron@gmail.com). After long negotiations about the price, the invoice and ID providing, we made a deal and I sent the Payment. It was the same case as eenzoo. Articles were written, links placed and I received links to check the placements. Everything looked fine, but after one week I started to receive announcements from my SEO tool the links are being lost. So I tried to contact the owner (why I did not do it before, shame on me), and he told me he was contacted by the same guy, and he was offered GBP1000 for a post on his site, but he has to write the article But he got never paid. So in the end the guy David (ID on name Shivam Gupta) fooled both of us. I am very dissapointed that such people are walking among us. Webmaster also told me about his other names he was trying to contact him with.

    STAY AWAY FROM THESE NAMES:

    DAVID NIXON
    SHIVAM GUPTA
    CARL CHAPLE
    DAVID DICRISTO

... and other offers from Gmail accounts, mostly ending with numbers.

    Stay safe

Why anyone would buy links from these dodgy out of the blue, Gmail email address and probably very poorly written English emails goes beyond me. They will promise you the world then run off with your money.

If anybody does want to buy any links from a reputable company then please feel free to get in touch. Yes we are an agency and work on commission, but you are safe and protected and covered.

I told myself - let´s try it one more time. Sites looked good, really good, and the price was not high. I took the risk, nothing more. I think I needed a final lesson, so here it is

While it may be true that at times scammers may use gmail or other email providers, just because someone does use gmail should not automatically place them in the scammer category.

Yes, with decent tech experience many could just as easily set up their own mail systems, but there are advantages for some people in some countries using gmail or other mail systems where any and all mail could be easily forwarded to a gmail account.

If the scammers wanted to they could just as easily use a throw away domain and email account that forwards to gmail, so the (don't do business with anyone at gmail) policy can be easily overcome.

I think far more could be said about buying links from a broker that doesn't own the site(s) and doesn't have a previous good reputation.

There are a whole lot of dealers here at the GPWA that I would have no problem buying links from, whether they used a gmail address or not, but I would base that decision on their reputation more then what email domain they used.

This is not to say that newer member would also possibly get consideration, but I would tend to be generally more cautious in those cases also.
