Angry Kind of cheated by HostGator

Decided to change hosting and chose Hostgator. Bought it during black Friday with big discount. Several days later got ID scan request as "Your web site may be in violation of our Terms of Service.". Wow, I had no time even to login to my account, so they must be really smart to spot a bad guys .
But not a big deal, I sent them passport scan. Silence from them... 2 days later I went to chat, got reply in 30 minutes (strange that I didn't close the chat window) which recommended to wait for verification. Next day I got money refunded and no e-mail, nothing to explain. My attempts to contact them were futile, no answers from support . So I really don't think Hostgator is a good choice, no support and very strange actions.

Hosting a gambling site with a US hosting company is an obvious mismatch.

Don't do it again. There are quality hosts in Europe.

I'm with Hostgator and got clarification from them before I signed up that it would be OK to host a website that advertises online casinos. This is the confimation.

Thank you for your interest in Host Gator. Per Host Gator's Terms-of-Service Gambling and Lottery sites are not permitted on any Host Gator Servers. We do however permit site that are "information only" about "Legal" gambling. Strategy, Reviews and general information sites that are related to gambling are permitted. Please be careful that the site you review are operating within their proper legal jurisdiction as reviews of sites that are under questionable legal standing can be a Violation of our ToS for promoting an illegal site.

In general if the gambling site hosted is "Information Only" then it is permissible under our Terms-of-Service.
It's always best to read terms and conditions BEFORE you commit yourself to anything.

As I wrote, I didn't have a chance to host anything, account was locked before I added anything.
My best guess, they decided that some guy from Russia do not deserve their generous discount .

That's interesting. I've had my reseller acc with HostGator since 2007 never had any grief from them, even when I put my gambling aff site on there 2 years ago. But thanks for the heads up. I'll be keeping a closer eye on things from now on. It's about time I moved it to a EU server n any case.

I never heard about any problems at HostGator. I do not use their services but never heard about any problems.
Perhaps, the issue was that you bought their service with big discount?
I really do not know. I hope you readed their T&C.
Just wonder if they welcome you back while paying the usuall price, without any discount?? hahahaha

Hostgator allows "information only" sites, so I don't know what the problem is. Either way, if they don't activate your account or refund your payment, simply charge your money back and use a different host. There are so many out there.

I'm sure big discount is in the middle of the problem. But I have no reason to try them another time (support was just horrible). Bluehost looks much more frendlier
