Fresh off the heels of the launch of a regulated iGaming industry in Nevada, Delaware and New Jersey this year, it appears that Mississippi will at least be in the conversation next year.

State Rep. Richard Bennett, R-Long Beach, House Gaming Committee chair, said hearings and discussions on Internet gambling are planned during Mississippi's 2014 legislative session.

"I don't believe we're going to have anything come out on it this session," he said. He and others in the industry prefer to sit back and let Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware -- the three states where Internet gambling is legal -- work out the many issues.


"It's just too early right now," he said. But he doesn't plan to wait for long.


"I don't want to be holding the ball on this. I want to be out front," he said.
