    Default Ledger hack

Those are the great hardware wallets endorsed by newbies.

If you do not know already you should absolutely NOT connect your ledger online since 3 days ago.

I think BTC should be safe, but anything on ETH, for example USDT sent over ETH is in danger.

I think this has been fixed after a few hours.
It was not only Ledger affected, but any dApps using the Ledger library.

As long as you didn't play around with dApps, your funds were safe.

Anyway, nothing seems safe anymore. CEX, software walltes (Atomic wallet hack was the last big one), and now Ledger. Not to mention all the user mistakes that lead to lost funds. I think a US Bitcoin ETF is good, and the best solution for most people.

Ledger has history. The July 2020 hack exposed their entire client base, putting them at very serious risk. This is a company to avoid:

Metamask released update after Ledger hack.
I've read that their wallet is absolutely safe to use with Ledger, so you might use it as you did it before.

    Nothing was ever safe.

I recommend software wallets. But even Electrum was "hacked" years ago, that there was some popup in frontend.

The adulthood can be defined that person finally understands that nothing is safe and there are tradeoffs everywhere.

I wonder how many people check what they sign with ledger on ledgr display. I always do. I am not sure if it saved me this time.

Of course you have to check, and please don't check only the first 4 and last 4 characters, but also some characters in the middle of the address (there were cases when wallet addresses were replaced with similar looking addresses!).

I am not talking about checking the address itself. That is essential.
I am talking about address of the contract and other hashes.
If you send the crypto it is easy. But if you send USDT over ETH or TRON, then the contract is more complex. Even more complex are transactions over DEX/web3, where you have to confirm it in several steps.

Thanks for posting about Ledger. I was just about to start using mine again; I may think twice now.

Read on Twitter people losing big amounts of Ethereum.

    Didn't FTX acquire Ledger?
