Default Legality aspects of online gambling in different countries

Hello, I am interested to share experiences from different countries, where online gambling is illegal or not regulated.

I tell you the situation from Romania, where players don't have interdiction to gambling on internet.

The taxes are 16-25% from gross winnings, but only for which exceeds 150 euro/day/operator. So if you win in one day 150x4 euro from 4 operators, the taxes are still 0.

This law is for off-line agencies (they pay directly those taxes), we don't have a special rule for online.

Some brands (bwin, gamebookers etc) have advertising on TV or sponsor football activity.

I know that several countries prohibit or limit the online gambling, Italy, Germany, Holland, Poland, Portugal... sorry if I am wrong.
But online gambling activity still exists, many sites promote it.

Maybe we can find the real situation from gpwa members?

    Thanks!

In the UK gambling is legal, both off and online. There are no taxes on the gambler's winnings, but operators have extra taxes over and above regular businesses ('bingo tax', 'betting tax', 'casino tax') and these are often on gross profit (rather than net) which is an additional burden.

Although online sites that are incorporated (and based) outside the UK avoid these extra taxes the government is working on regs to tax them remotely, not sure what that will eventually look like but I suspect it will end up restricting choice for the ordinary gambler.

Here In Russia online gambling and land-based gambling is illegal (except several areas). But all play. We have many "internet clubs" where people may play at online casinos.

    Sorry for my bad English.

There are some amends in this case, in theory?
Other measure to impose this law are taken? I know in Italy the internet providers are forced to ban the IPs of the bookmakers, is a periodic list from the authorities. In USA the money can not be transferred to bookmakers etc.
As webmaster who own a gambling site (with adverts), you can have some problems?

    Thanks!

Here in Curaçao, gambling both online and offline is legalized and regulated.

We have a lot of online casinos operating under the jurisdiction of the Netherlands Antilles.

Almost all hotels with more than 50 rooms do have a land base casino on their property.

Many Canadian provinces had regulated online gambling already. Newfoundland, however, is one who disapproves this industry. The province's premier wouldn't want to legalize online gambling.
