Hopefully they will be able to challenge Google. There needs to be competition in the SE space, and Google with their near monopoly can use that dominance to strong arm e.g. affiliates.
This is a big deal,Yahoo must have been really impressed with bing. They will have a difficult time going against google.Bing, is expected to power all Yahoo! searches, while Yahoo! assumes responsibility for handling advertising sales.

Yea it's a a push towards Google sharing search with others.
I welcome it, because I've never felt comfortable with Google having so much power over my organic revenue stream.
On another note, I've found bing's serps to be more relevant. But in order to gain on their market share they have to be better or have more to offer in terms of accessories.. Google has such a head start on co-lateral offerings that that too will be hard.
Microsoft needs to break out with a new technology. Teaming up with Apple would be a good start. There's still an untapped market with portable devices. As the devices are merging, there's even more of a potential.
I wondered what the recent shakeup in Microsoft's PubCenter had been....
I have been in contact with them over an account with their beta team....and have been very unhappy....if Yahoo has involvement in this it makes more sense now....
I personally feel Microsoft may have had a shot at it, but NOT if Yahoo is behind it...I feel they will screw it up much more than MS would have.

If an affiliate program is not small affiliate friendly (especially small US Affiliate), then they are NOT Affiliate Friendly!
Has anyone been seeing the "BING" commercials on TV? Very Nice, very inviting, good marketing.

I heard on the news the other day that Yahoo was actually serving up Google SERPS for awhile.
I haven't been happy with Google for a long time. It seems I have to try variations of seach terms to find what I want whereas before it returned exactly what I wanted on the first try.
Good thing becuase the Yahoo SERPS are a spamathon and Bing seems to have a better grip on things. Yahoo lost the plot a long time ago.
Conversely Yahoo paid search is much easier to work with then Adcentral which surely must be a practical joke.
Makes sense if they can actually make it work.
Yahoo as I always thought their results are about drunk as possible. Nothing there too relevant IMO. Good thing someone is throwing them a life safer. Yahoo I believe has deals with Google and M$.
Interesting through the grape vine, M$ "could crush Google at any moment."
Much more to this story for sure.

Sorry!!
I've seen the tv ads, looked at the video, then go use bing and it's the same crappy search engine as before. the links on the left, link me to new SERPs, where is the chart telling me when to fly to budapest or vegas? i've search for a few travel locations and never do i see their fancy graphs showing me when to buy.
When i search "NYC Chinese food manhattan' i get normal looking SERP, with 3 ads on top, ads on right and "alternate searches" on left. The same search in google, removes the ads on top, shows a map of manhattan with list of 10 restaraunts then the same sort of results that bing did: sections from menupages.com, chowhound, etc.
Google Wins
For "chinese food central park west,
bing shows 1) site from china, 2) restaurant in seattle 3) restaurant near columbus Circle BING(correct) 4) something about tshirts in central park 5) another columbus circle restuarant BING 6) a restaurant in Regina Saskatchewan
2 of 6 correct
Google 1) shows a link to page about florida at BOTW, but shows address for a place on 79th and Central park west, bing? 2) local business group with link to local restauratn BING 3) New York site with upper west site/columbus square restaurants BING 4) yellow book page for phoenix 5) NY mag restaurant reviews, upper west side BING 6) VirtualTourist, cheap chinese central park west BING
5 of 6 right, or 4.5 if you discount BOTW because it says Florida in title, but shows a NYC restaurant in my search area.
so, to me it's the same crap in a new wrapper. which is disappointing because i'd like to see google (or anyone's share) stay closer to 50% than 75%. it would be nice to have 3 or 4 good/commercially successful SEs
I will just carry on using Google for the time being...............wait while everything settles down and then choose which will work best for me
