Default Firefox, Chrome ditching the URL bar

It looks like Firefox and Chrome are looking to keep the URL bar hidden in upcoming versions of their browsers. What do you think of that decision?

Wow the screen shot of an old Mosaic browser took me back...

I would think the url bar will return, too many people resist change. One positive though is it gets more content in the browser window thus lowering the fold.

Interesting change here, although I like the idea in principal I don't know how comfortable I would feel with it - the URL bar has always been in the same place! Maybe something to get used to... this will no doubt puzzle the non tech-savvy for a good few hours...

Personally this will take some serious getting used to. Looks real weird not to see the URL bar.

Will this be something that users can opt for or against or will the no URL bar be imposed across the board?

I suspect the answer to that question will be determined by the response they get during beta. I'm going to try and find some extensions for Firefox and Chrome that mimic the experience today.
