Crazy GoDaddy. Need advice.

1. Several days ago i made bid on GoDaddy auction ~ 1375 THB (Thailand Bath). This is ~ $USD 50.

2. Before i made bid, i always check all twice. Account currency: THB (Thailand Bath). Near "Enter Bid" symbol of THB - Thailand bath. So i thinked that i made bid in THB.

3. I made bid. All ok, my bid displayed in THB.

4.) Today i log-in to my account and see, that all displayed now in $USD. My bid = $1375, that is too match.

5.) I tried to explain all to support, but they don't want to listen me. They reply "all bids is non-refundable". And they don't to try understand my case.

6.) Auction will end = 28 March 2018.

From my point of view this is very unhonest business practice. They indicate to customer one price, and try to charge another price. x30 times more.

I understand very well that GoDaddy is very big company and i am very small client. But i don't want to pay for they IT-bugs. I know, that the only one way to solve problem with big company is grub attention from somebody who is upper than support team level.

Otherwise it's a vicious circle. I will try to explain my situation. They will not listen me.

GoDaddy company registered in Arizona, USA. Is it possible in USA to send complain in regulator body? If yes, i would like to do this and send copy of this complain/complaints to GoDaddy.

In big companies people don't like personal responsibility. Maybe this will work?

Do you have any screenshots to back up your clamp? Or perhaps you could take one of your account currency showing THB? I'd try to take as many as you could, and then try to contact them via Twitter (https://twitter.com/GoDaddy), as it's public.

No..(( Several days all was ok. Price displayed in THB. And today i see prices in USD.

I just tried to look into mistake bids on Godaddy, and they seem like they will not budge. You could email auctions@godaddy.com and explain to them, but I don't think you'll have much luck.
Failing that, don't pay?

Thats a pity, keep an eye on your account to see if it switches currency, also maybe contact your credit card company if that is your funding source.

Off course i don't pay anything for GoDaddy. This is not my fault. But i am ready to pay fine $50-$100. But i am not ready to pay $1325 for they IT-bugs.

I would like to draw your attention to the activity of company GoDaddy Operating Company, LLC https://www.godaddy.com


From my standpoint the company uses unfair business practice toward its clients who are not US citizens.


In the middle of March 2018 I took part in a domain auction at GoDaddy.com (my account id:180339690). I’m a Russian citizen currently living in Thailand. Upon entrance into my account all prices were shown in Thai bath (THB). I was offered to make a bid in THB – Thai bath. After I made the bid the price was shown in Thai bath again and it was slightly less than the equivalent of $150 (USD).


On the 24th of March, 2018 upon login to my account on GoDaddy I found out that the price is shown in USD and it is 30 times higher than the bid I had placed.


The customer support hadn’t resolved this issue.


For example when you see a price of $10 your card is charged ten times more as the seller implied different currency than you saw. That’s how GoDaddy dealt with me as well as I suspect many customers from outside of the US.


In social media you can find similar complaints to GoDaddy.com from non-US citizens from across the globe .


From my standpoint GoDaddy runs an unfair business practice on a regular basis that constitutes intentional fraud towards non-American clients regarding foreign currency transactions using web interface with convoluted and incorrect data counting on that people being deceived aren’t protected by US laws. This is purely fraud and discrimination practice.


A contract could not be considered fair if one of the parties is presented with knowingly unjust conditions.


I assume that GoDaddy company has many similar claims from clients outside of the US.


I kindly request to execute measures to stop the unlawful business practice from this company in accordance with the local legislation.

The point is,the problem is on your end (probably)...your browser display a wrong currency.
On the other side, Godaddy should cancel the bid -should be not a big problem for this company...

As you see This is not only problem with THB. Today i speak with some Russian GPWA members. The same problem with Russian rubles.
People type-in sum in Rubles, GoDaddy charge in USD.

I can say I see prices in COP (Colombian Peso) in the first column (PRICE) and see a mix of USD and COPin the second column (MAKE AN OFFER)

If I try another location (choosing in the top left), for example France, it is the same thing, a mix of currencies.

The auction did not end yet. Just cancel your credit cards and payment information there. And move domains out.

You can make another account easily if you want to go to auctions again.

How did u pay ? Credit Card ? If yes ,ask your bank...fill a dispute and charge back the money.

You are dealing with absolute **** corp. and you knew it hopefully, so you gotta be prepared for this.
You can actually cancel the card (if it was not charged yet) at bank and ask for a new one (rather when it settles down, sometimes even replacement card has the same numbers).

I do not think they will block your domains until May, but not sure.


The only value they have are really the auctions. I guess you do it more frequently, bc you have domains locked until May. Other auctions and prices were ok? I hope you were not transferring valuable domains TO GD.

Maybe you tried to game the system a bit and their broken system actually got you?

After several months when there was several hundred USD, I tried to withdraw the money through their shitsystem and in the end they locked my account and got a system message I sent there fraudalent traffic. Nobody ever replied back to me anything else than the classic robotic talk.

Godaddy is a vacuum of cash, in all sorts of shady ways. Way overpriced, and terrible to try to cancel anything.
