Many click from web IP

Hello, my website has no traffic, it barely started working.
However, I checked my affiliate accounts and I have several hundred clicks per month there from the same IP address. I checked the address and it is the (shared) address of my site!

What is it about? I do not click on my own links. It is known that when I make a website I often hover over a link but I do not click it. Then in affiliate account it should be given as hits/impression and not as a click.

What could be the reason for this?
Can I change it somehow so that I do not see hundreds of clicks from my host IP?

Most like just bot clicks.

Ok if the clicks are coming from your web host, it could be that the host is hosting another site that is running one of the bots that is following your links.

If it is the same ip that your site is hosted on, it very well "could" be a 404 link checker such as the plugin "Broken Link Checker".

Thanks for the reply. It seems that there is probably indeed something like that responsible for it.
I have no idea how to get rid of it, it won't block my host's IP. Are there any other ways? Are those hundreds of clicks on affiliate accounts a problem or will they just interfere with the stats?

I'm guessing you haven't got a broken link checker plugin active...or any other plug in that could be trawling pages/links?. If you have, disable it and see if it goes away. If you haven't, my guess is you'll need extra eyeballs to try and work it out (ie help, but they will need to see what's going on!)

I don't have such link plugins.
I did the tests and it shows that it is my activity. If I have time, every now and then I do something on the site, refresh, correct. Probably hundreds of times. But I don't click on my links. And programs show as a click every refresh of my page or scroll. It is shown as a pure click and not a hit/immpression


The strange thing about this is that the hosting IP is shown and not mine. Mine IP only shows up when I actually click.

Whatever bot etc that is running and following the links is either on your site, or on a site on that ip.

Do you have any plugin that is reporting bad links to your dashboard?

I don't have such a plugin. Can you recommend me to install one?
I installed Blackhole for Bad Bots but it did not find anything.
Anyway, the plugin automatically whitelisted the hosting IP.


When the mouse cursor hovers over the link a click is shown with the IP and country of my hosting.

When I real click on the link my real IP and country appears.

I tried to disable the security plug-in because it sometimes caused problems, but it did not help.

If it is important then links are masked by Poka Review Plugin. In programs as ref. link there is direct link without masking and in one program something like: WordPress/5.9.3; https://i website address
