    http://www.therx.com/

Appears they have banners on their homepage:
Paid banner ad I would assume.

Banners have been phased out of new design templates.

Here is an example of a new aff site from another thread
    https://online.casino

This design avoids any banner usage.
Banners can be seen a tacky to a web designer.

Banners ads are more relevant with news feed sites.
Criteria of higher traffic volumes can make banner usage profitable.
Either using Google ads or direct banner ads from operators.

At Webpartners we have a team that creates new banners every week or month for upcoming events.
We see the usage of these banners dropping. I think it has more to do with site design vs banner conversion rates.

Let me know if you think Banners still have a place in 2021??

The banners themselves may not assist anyone's SEO score and likely why they are abandoned in the original design scheme.

Also, Banners metrics don't assist with other direct link conversion stats.
I'd go further and say zero gambling brands will pay for banner traffic on CPM deals.

CPM metrics are not performance based metrics.
CPM metrics can be argued as a branding based exposure.

Let's be serious when was the last time anyone cared about Impressions?

Saying banners don't convert is also incorrect.
It just has to fit the traffic source and volume of traffic.

Their forum has always been loaded up with banners and they were all taken off. There are no Offshore Banners to be found on their site.
I have a feeling they are going the US sanctioned route. Which means they will have to cut all ties with offshore books. The question is are they doing it on their own, or are they being bullied to do it. I know if you go to SBR from certain states you cannot see the regular homepage most people see. For example if you live in WV all you see this this page: Best Sportsbooks in 2020 - Top Online Sports Betting Sites | SBR (sportsbookreview.com)

You cannot backstep to the usual sportsbookreview with all the offshore banners. Seems like more and more sites are being bullied to stop advertising for offshore books or possibly? be blocked.

If this is your question no need to ask here and speculate.

You might find your answer if you ask directly.

Many Affiliates are GEO targeting their traffic.
The ability to do so on state based geos vs country based has become easier.

State vs Country based GEO targeting is

You can fetch visitor city/state via php or js using geoplugin json web service:
    http://www.geoplugin.net/json.gp?ip=129.74.193.44

    https://neilpatel.com/blog/geo-targeting/

    https://www.wpexplorer.com/wordpress-geotargeting-plugins/

Some sites are already using and changing display ladders and banners based on state based GEOs to optimize conversions.

What's out there and how it's done would need more research.

Some Ad networks offer free geo targeting for banner ads....likely a reason why some affs use these ad networks for the tools.

Some ad network banner scripts are impressive as they can re-target banners ads based on cookies and display different banner ad based on State or country IP configurations.

For individual sites you'll need to add a plugin or banner scripts configured to detect the visit ip State/country ip.
Some of these scripts can detect difference between mobile and desktop limit ad size (rendering best fit) and even display or not display based on browser.

If your not into banners and you just want to geo target keyword and or your ladders.

I'd say this WP plugin looks interesting.

If an aff had both a keyword aff link optimizer + a GEO plugin + translation they could do some amazing things.

Banners do have a bit of an outdated vibe anyway, yes. And we've actually seen it from stats too, it's not what triggers traffic action anymore, since a while now. I guess it depends on many factors, but in general I wouldn't go over the top with banners use, yes.

    I see.

    Not everyone uses Wordpress.

I need someone to design a custom geo tool and (maybe modal) popups to go along with it. 3rd party pop-up providers are too slow!

Anyone know a good programmer :P

It is quite surprising to see that banner ads are being pulled so late. Even more surprising are affiliate managers so focused on banners updates and placements. Looks like there are some 90’ minded marketing folks in charge of some marketing departments around the industry.
Do not get me wrong, display banner ads still have their role in the game, particularly in case you do not care about destroying a good design, upsetting users or investing in maintaining banners admin tools.

A proof that they are still in the game are for example some Google products like Youtube. A proof that their are about to die are the adoption numbers of Ad Blockers.

So, as a general trend I would progressively remove banners, and pay an update course to every marketing folk (and AM) still so focused on those annoying and costly blocks. JMO.
