PokerListings' founder passes away

We are very sad and shocked to confirm that Andreas Oscarsson, founder of PokerListings.com, has tragically passed away while visiting his childhood home in Sweden.


At this point, we do not have any details other than he was found dead in his bed on the morning of August 3rd. He had been shot.

For all of us who began building PokerListings with Andreas several years ago, he was a close friend and we will miss him dearly.

Andreas left the operational side of PokerListings just over two years ago, shortly after the birth of his son, and had moved into an advisory role, drawing on his vast experience to lead the current team when needed.

He was a great source of inspiration and energy to anyone he encountered - at least if you were on the same side of the fence (for those on the other side of the fence, he was a tough negotiator and a worthy, highly respected opponent).

Andreas was a very generous person to those close to him, a brilliant internet marketing guru and a savvy business entrepreneur - always looking to break new ground, and break new records.

He was a true pioneer within the industry; his vision with PokerListings.com was to build a world-leading online gambling company. We shall not let him down, and will bring his vision all the way to the finish line in honor of his memory - you can take that to the bank.

Those of us who knew him well would say that most of all he was a warm and loving father.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to Andreas' son, family & friends.

Andreas, we will forever miss you.

Hi All

I think we all know how much of an influence, Andreas and his team brought to the industry and hearing the news early yesterday was a big shock to me...

I met Andreas on a few occasions, but had lost touch with him over the last couple of years since he sort of sidestepped down as CEO from Pokerlistings...

The words from Pokerlistings yesterday wat that Andreas always wanted his business to have a good influence on the industry, and can only say that I think he had that long before his death...

I know th ePokerlistings management team will continue to grow in honor of this great guy and my thoughts and prayers go out to Andreas' son especially and of course his close family and friends...

Just by taking a look at the different forums, shows you how respected this man was and it should be an eye opener to all of us

I only met him once, right when he was starting stuff up.

he then kicked my ass in the SERPs and killed off my great rankings by using dirty tricks, like creating lots of original content and working hard ("dirty tricks" is sarcasm if you weren't sure). He did a helluva job building poker listings into a force.

It's really sad that he went this way and that his young son has to deal with the fallout from being there with him.

I had visited his site many times during research or properties etc....

My thoughts are with his family.
