Default Malta begins framework for DFS regulation

The Malta Gaming Authority announced that it is "exempting fantasy sports from the requirement of a gambling licence."

The Maltese Government is committed to introduce legislation to regulate certain skill games which may present increased risks to the consumer. In this regard, the proposed Skill Games Regulations have been notified to the European Commission as part of the process for the Authority to roll out its licensing framework to regulate such skill-based games, including fantasy sports.

Seriously? Fantasy sports isn't actually gambling ?

Then neither is basic betting on Sports - as both require the same skill set from the player..
Basic sports knowledge and analysis of stats and odds.

WTF goes on in regulators heads?

Depends how you see it. If you can bet on it and win or loose money - I'd consider it gambling.

You have asked the million dollar question. WTF are regulators thinking? Nearly every game has both an element of chance and an element of skill. For example, I saw an article a couple of years ago about a national backgammon tournament that was legal because backgammon is a game of skill, but when you factor in the roll of the dice, does it not become a game of chance? Outside of checkers and chess, are there any games that are strictly skill? There probably are, but the number is very limited.

In my opinion it's not really a form of gambling since it's involving requirement for lots of knowledge and skills... the fact someone can use it to make money or for the same thrill of gambling experience.. well one can use the stock exchange for the same reasons, it's making the stock exchange to a gambling arena
