Mayweather-Pacquiao | Fight Date Expected to be "Announced" | During Super Bowl 49

Bookmakers will be making some serious money this Super Bowl to cap off what has been a fantastic football season but Super Bowl 49’s best bet might come in the form of an announcement pertaining to the long-awaited Mayweather-Pacquiao fight.

Many believe it will be among the most wagered on events of the year should it happen….and it is looking more and more likely that it will.

While not official, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao were expected to make the announcement of a fight date during next Sunday’s big game.

Sam Watson, an associate of Mayweather’s adviser Al Haymon, said that having the fight announced during the Super Bowl would be an excellent way to tip the boxing fans off to the Mayweather fight.

So far, Gambling911.com has yet to come across any prop bets pertaining to a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight announcement.


Reports have the fight taking place May 2.

Same old drill with Mayweather though, he picks and chooses fights to suit himself. Class fighter no doubt, but he surely can't go down among the other top 3-4 elite all-time greats as he's ducked and dived so much and chooses fights to make him look good rather than fight the best in their primes. He also made people do weird weights to suit him, e.g. come down in weight if they were big and dangerous so he knew they'd be drained or if they were smaller making them go up in weight so he'd have size difference.

I personally don't think he's great for boxing, he's just an asshole who I'd love to see lose. Pacquiao in his prime would have done Mayweather in my opinion. Nowadays, Pacman's more or less finished.

Alex Ariza is allegedly a chemist, the theory is that now he's in mayweather's corner and not pacquiao's, mayweather has given the fight the green light. without a shadow of a doubt "allegedly" marquez was juiced when he nearly killed pacquiao - that piece of "strength and conditioning" was down to none other than angel memo heredia aka angel hernandez as pointed out by victor conte ( balco scandal ). freddy roach has admitted Alex Ariza used to give Pacquiao special drinks before training in which roach didnt know what was in them. incidentally heredia has been linked with usain bolt (although nothing proven) and the rest of the jamaican team many of which have been failing drug tests.

I will attend this mega fight but as of now, there is a 50/50 chance that this will materialize. It seems like Mayweather doesn't want to risk blemishing his undefeated record nearing retirement.

disagree with much of that to be honest, he's probably the most technically gifted boxer the sport has ever seen, his defensive skills are staggering.
Also just about every boxer has picked fights and conditions to suit, and to be fair to Mayweather a lot of the times he fought at different weights was because that's where the title was and the fight was, for example he had to go up a weight to fight Oscar De La Hoya and came in 10lbs lower.
As for Pacquiao, he didn't want blood tests before the fight, Mayweather even rang him himself and offered the fight. shame it didn't happen but if it does now it will never be the amazing showdown it should and could of been.
I've actually met Mayweather as well, in Vegas before the Ortiz fight, and also know some others that have and I found him sound, so did the others

I am somewhat of a fight fan, although I do not follow the circuit closely or anything, but I do occasionally get in the mood and sit down and watch a handful of fights as well as being interested in watching some of the big highly publicized fights.

I have been intrigued by much of the press that has surrounded this particular matchup and I had always figured some of the controversy and back and forth was specifically designed for additional hype.

I have almost always enjoyed watching either fighter so I had always looked forward to this fight if they can ever decide to do it so the money that the hype has generated can be distributed among HBO the bookies and fighters themselves.

As far as an opinion of which guy will win, I haven't thought about it much but just assumed it would be a decent fight since both have had pretty good careers and fighting styes that could make it interesting.

Feels like I've been reading about a possible fight between these two since I was 5 years old...
From the thinly veiled doping allegations, to prize money split, and other stuff along the way, it would be great to finally see it go ahead but it has undoubtedly lost a lot of it's appeal due to the fact that they're now 37 yrs old (Mayweather) and 36 yrs old (Pacquiao).

Pacquiao has lost 2 of his last 5 fights and there are many that feel he should have lost the MD to Marquez in the fight before that too.
Prior to that, a fight between Pacman and Mayweather would have been so much more, because it seemed like both fighters were pretty much unbeatable against everyone they faced.

Having said that, I am still looking forward to this fight and just hope they can finally make it a reality.
