    Default Mobile Gambling

For at least five years the gambling industry has touted mobile gambling as the next big thing. Revenue from people playing poker, roulette, blackjack or betting on sports on their cell phones would be huge within 12 months, industry analysts claimed. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?p...bxI&refer=muse

Thing is, there are two layers of mobile gaming: one off bets and "constant connection" betting. Poker and casino require the latter and until mobile devices have "always on" capability the gaming industry is ahead of technology. Sports betting only requires a short "log on/log off" to place a bet - or even a text - so it is much more suited to the current environment.

I believe it's time will come, but not until Internet connectivity via mobile devices is ready to support it.

I've been pushing into the mobile space - as I want to established when the wave hits... As simmo indicated, it's much more suited towards sports - poker and casino require different connection speeds. I have a blackberry app and a mobile sports odds website for all platforms.

But then again, I thought there was going to be a big Bingo boom a year or two ago - and that never happened :P

Also, with the IPhone or any slick and touch screen mobile phones in todays craze, I think online games would be the next phenomenon in mobile technology.

As a user for many years of a couple of windows based smartphones, I think the major issue is the amount of data and the costing for said data is the key (I know some mobile operators are starting to get there) and when the mobile industry alligns itself with unlimited data for a small fixed fee then mobile gambling would then become an even more viable product. My personal thoughts on the poker side of it, is I would be worried about time-outs when I had my money in the pot. I am sure further down the line this will be a great market and I certainly think its worthwhile keeping tabs on the development of this side of the industry
