Default Mobile landing pages Bad for Seo??

It seems everyday i get an email from an affilate manager wanting to offer me a custom landing page for my mobile phone visitors to my sites. This tells me that this is becoming very popular and i have gone along and offered a custom landing page for these visitors on a few of my sites using the wptap mobile redirect plugin for my wordpress sites and its doing rather well which im happy about. But the question is, and its been nagging at me a bit, iv read many times that one of the big sins in the eyes of google is doorway pages or showing one page to google and another to the visitor. It seems to me that this is exactly what these mobile redirect plugins do, if a person finds my site in a search on their handset, clicks, they then go to a custom page showing the banners of the casinos im promoting and not getting my actually website. Do you guys/girls know if this would count as being deceptive and bad for my sites in the eyes of google? would really like to put my mind to rest on this one, cheers

I don't have much experience with mobile, so I can't say for sure.
However, I would give Google a bit more credit - plenty of major sites have redirects for mobile users.
If it means a more usable site for mobile users and you aren't doing anything misleading then I'm sure it's all good.

I fully focus on mobile gambling and initially only had mobile sites. Last year I added a regular website to my main mobile site, using a redirect script. Technically this worked great, but after some time I noticed a drop in my rankings. After talking to my SEO partner, I decided to go back to mobile only. After some time my rankings went up again.

I know not all specialists agree on this subject, so just to be sure I now have seperate domains for mobile and regular. Also be aware that mobile sites/pages need a mobile sitemap and that crawlers will also be redirected if you use a redirect script. I guess you should use both a mobile and a regular sitemap if you set up a "hybrid" site.

    very important question.
on this stage what I have found.

    1. Google differ sites made for usual phones (wap) and for desktop pcs.
    2. If you redirect user browsing via usual phone it seems ok from Google point of view as it is rather different design and user experience.
    3. But I didn't find anything about smartphones. Google states it take usual web page version and using its own tools resizing it for smartphones. So if you redirect user to another page/url made for iphone/android/blackberry it seems to me Google can think about that badly.
    4. Google is still developing its own views on this problem. As the best option can be different .css file for smartphone users based on user-agent.
