Moving to New Domain

I'm ready to finally make the big move.

Everything is on the new site, the links all work and it has been tested.

But I have one question about the redirect via the htaccess file. I have a bunch of redirects from a prior update. Do I have to change of those, I kept the permalinks the same as the old site. Or do I just make on redirect for the old domain to the new one?

Nevermind, I answered my own question...

Time to rebuild that big htaccess file I suppose. That is what I was afraid of.

Any tips on finding all my pages. I can search through my WP admin, but I am wondering if there was any tricks of the trade

So I found this command to use, but wondering if it is SEO compliant?

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^.*oldsite\.com$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://newsite.com/$1 [R=301,L]

of course you have to change "oldsite" and "http://newsite.com"

Any thoughts. Is Google ok with this or do I have to litterally set a 301 redirect for everyt freaking page?

Yeah for redirecting to a new domain you don't need to list individual pages.

And what you asked about previous redirects, if they were 301 redirects and have been in place for a few months then its fine. No need to replace them.

This is what I think the .htaccess on the old site should contain:

Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.newdomain.com/$1 [R=301,L]

Thanks, but I read Google's guidelines. I was asking for clarification.

Everything seems to be working perfectly fine. All pages are being redirected.

Yeah, I expect it for now. But in the long run I think it will be better with highly searched keywords in my domain name.

Only time will tell.
