Default My competition hitting me with negative SEO

So for the first time since I turned operator, my lottery platform was hit with negative SEO. During the last 5 weeks, ome asshat created 10.000 spammy backlinks across 130 crappy domains, half of which redirect to a site named: casinogentleman dot com. The domain owner is namesilo dot com, anyone knows them? Does it make sense to contact them?

I guess I must be doing something right ...

Your competitors could do that for you. I think it makes sense to try contact them and see what's next.

I'm not really sure what do you mean by redirecting to casinogentleman dot com? Is this your site? If negative attack is happening, links are pointed to your domain, not 301 to somebody else? Can you provide more details?
If you getting hit by negative seo, first thing is to check the list of spam domains and upload the list to google disavow tool. It might take some time to do it and google to pick it up, but will work eventually...

    Hope this helps

Well in my Google search console, I found a number of links from a total of 130 domains. So I made a list, and opened each one of them to see what they are like. Then it turned out that most of them had a permanent redirect to casinogentleman. No idea why the original domains were in my GSC - I assume someone placed links on the original domain, then redirected the entire doman afterwards?
And, yes, of course I already submitted a list of all those domains in the disavow function. I didnt have a manual penalty yet, but there was a 30% drop in organic searches (which made me check by backlink profile in the first place). I hope it won't take too long for Google to take action and the site will bounce back

Namesilo are just a registrar. If they’re showing up as the owner it just means the real owner is using their privacy option.

30% drop in organic sessions? Google announced that the core algorithm fully rolled out yesterday, I saw a 40% day-on-day drop in organic sessions on one of my sites. Could be related to this.

I dont think so, the drop was a few days ago, and it was just after what GSC says they first saw those spammy links. And after that drop, traffic was consistant.

I think this is the most logical conclusion of that.

Likely, the person is doing this to others also, and once enough sites disavow the domain, hey move on to another.

I get this all the time, i noticed latley some EDU links with a separate blank page just one do follow link to my site + sometimes redirect, This is pretty much why the disavow tool still exists so just use it and try and report as DMCA so it gets deindexed,

Like you say, you must be doing something right. If no manual actions though, probably safe to ignore?

That's what Google says, but I don't believe a word coming from them. There was a drop in SERPS and traffic, and the timing fits, so I am sure a disavow still is necessary.

The same bullshit in my backlinks...

The principle is similar to doorways. How it works: the bullshit webmaster steals pieces of content through the SERP and puts it on multiple pages and on multiple domains. Real visitors get redirected to real site while google bot sees it as "200" page.

As a rule they can deliver traffic to destinations depending on visitor's IP. For example in my case from my IP I got to porn sites and when I switched to German VPN I got to casino brands by Alpha Affiliates. When I contacted them and reported blackhat webmaster they promised to block him but in fact did NOTHING (no wonder)

P.S. The reason why you see these backlinks in your profile is that they insert link to your website to the text templates in those doorways.

Seen a number of these recently, mainly with .nl extensions and redirecting to a Leovegas affiliate link.

Afraid I´ve seen it happen quite a lot recently as well. Best thing is probably just to disavow the links as mentioned earlier.

I am facing same problem on one of my domains. Mainly .nl domains and many of link sources are being redirected. And all of them come with the same anchor text, so I´m afraid Google will not see it as some kind of anchor spamming. Good thing is, that 90% of the links are no-follow, should I disavow them?

Same here, loads of .nl sites and sites that redirect. And yes, you def should disavow them. In my case, I see app. 30-40 new links appearing, in January on 12th, then 22nd, then 28th again. And every time I see a drop in organic visitors, in synch with the links popping up. So much for Google automatically not taking those links into account

I am wondering about how many of those backlinks are caught by Google... Maybe using Majestic.com would make sense - from previous experience, I know that they show far more backlinks than any other service. On the other hand, if Google doesn't list a bad link in the GSC, then those links won't affect my SEO anyway? What do you guys think?

I am not sure, I think Google lists just the links you see in Search Console. I use Majestic, and it shows far more backlinks then Search Console. So there might be the solution to disavow just these ones in Console. Anyway I wonder which competitor uses these unfair tactics, I would like to talk to him in private
