Default My Poker Pal site review

    Hi All,
I am new to the online forum /blog scene so forgive me if i get this wrong. I want to get the opinion of some of the members in order to improve the service i offer.
I have been involved in poker for almost 20 years, i set up one of the first poker leagues in the UK back in 2003 in pubs and clubs and really enjoyed the social aspect it offered, a chance to get out from my 6 kids and hectic home life for a little break lol and also meet new people and help them improve their own games.
Fast forward to 2013 and i set up a website My Poker Pal , a kind of Facebook but just for poker. My Facebook friends were get tired of my statuses relating to poker all the time so i began looking into the options available.I found quite a few communities out there but most were just crammed with affiliate type links to online poker rooms. We wanted to do something different and make a site for the player to enjoy so we have invested a lot of time and money into making the site successful but we still want to know if there is anything we can improve on. We have an APP in development and and a few other exciting products due for launch which will be of great benefit to poker players across the world.
But we want your view and things you would like, for instance we was told a game locator would be great so you can find a game no matter where you are, be it a pub or club game to casinos and major events etc.
So my next step was to sign up to this forum and get the opinion of people involved in poker.
The site is doing great and we get over 40,000 visitors each month, we have a great poker video library and are getting a few people now posting blogs on the site and with your help we hope to make the site one of the best global poker communities on the web. Everything is free and we are a very friendly bunch, so all your input would be most welcome.
As far as my first blog i hope it wasn't to long winded and was an interesting read.
thanks for taking time to read, i look forward to your thoughts and ideas.
    Paul.

Looks interesting Paul, I'm not clear on your card offer from the website - what would that do for players?

Just a couple of small initial pieces of feedback,

    - Your list on the signup page is very 'features' oriented, did you test benefits to the players instead? Connecting might be enough for some people, though I was not able to answer the 'what is in it for me?' question well enough to be tempted to sign up... I'd be worried that all I get is to argue with Romanian freeroll whores
    - Everything moves wayyyy too fast for an old guy like me (pics / articles etc), made me slightly seasick!

Would be great to see someone finally make a success of this concept, so best of luck.

    Thanks Mark,
The cards are great for online use, it stops gamblers losing more than they can afford as they are not linked to your bank account, they also offer security , should someone hack you they cannot access your bank account and more importantly the wife does not not what your spending lol. plus lots of other benefits, such as free subs and offers from selected partners etc.
As for the site, many thanks for your input and i will speak with my IT guy and add some benefits for the players, we wanted to steer clear of the usual get this bonus that bonus etc and Romanian freeroll whores and make it a friendly place to share stories post clips etc and we are getting there.
Your last comment is spot on and is the reason why we have invested so much time and money into this. If yopu haver any ideas or suggestions that would help they would be much appreciated.

If you want a review on your site, post a non-promotional thread asking for a review and ideas.

If you need help posting the link, just post the thread and drop me or Anthony a pm (private message) and we can insert the link for you.

    Good!

The only thing I don't like is the pop-up window for social medias.

I agree - I wouldn't sign up without reading a few articles and deciding if the content is interesting enough.

thank you very much for your feedback. As i originally mentioned i am not savvy on this stuff. can you tell if there is anyway i can get help with this sort of stuff. I was told that there are people who love doing this sort of stuff, so any help would be grateful. we don't want to fill the site with links, banners etc like all the rest so we make no money from site but just want to build a community . if you have any ideas, or would like to help then please get in touch. paul@mypokerpal Thanks again, have to say most friendly site i been on so far, i keep getting bullied for spamming etc but i don't mean to, just terrible at this. so forgive me,.
