My Sports Betting Forum

Hi guys, I just started my new forum sharpnation.com . My goal is to create a place in which people can discuss and exchange info and what not. Im not really looking to sell picks or lie to people to get money from them.

I myself have been sports betting for a while now for a living, and its become stressful to say the least. This forum is going to be 100x harder it seems but im gonna try my best to work threw it.

Im looking for any tips, advice, people who have any advice or knowledge they would like to share with me. Im finding it hard to get the word out without spamming. I also know the site is incomplete im fixing it up every day as much as i can.

The site looks good, I usually make a few baseball comments on forums now and I see that you have a baseball section. Are you planning on putting bball and nfl in?

I'd promote it through the social sites, but I'd also join all of the main gambling forums and list my site in the signature links.

So if your not selling picks what is your main goal? Have you heard of sportslobster? If not, check them out, there is a load of info online on how they set it up and the site could be something like you are trying to achieve, good luck anyway

I plan on doing alot of sportsbook affiliation and banner space, but not touting. Thanks for the site, will check it out even more.

A lot of people go to the freshman forum and ask for a site review. It is really good, i did it with my site when I first joined and it helped a lot. That may be a good next move.

You could try to boost your site by putting some sports betting articles up. We publish 1-2 per day live betting articles on the day's games.

One of the hardest things for a new forum is the starting up phase that you're in now, and my advice would be to try and get several very active posters onto your forum. You and your friends is a good start, but also think about other ways to attract very active sports posters.

I think a good way that you can do this is look through sports or betting blogs and find people that write a lot of detailed posts but do not get many comments or feedback on their site. If they are putting in a lot of their time and writing regular sports write ups as a hobby and not getting any enjoyment out of it they may be keen to start interacting on your forum instead.

Try inviting these guys and if you keep the emails personal and honest you may manage to get several quality members that way.

Also very important to make an effort to welcome new people to the forum when they start posting, when lurkers see that it's a friendly environment they may be more inclined to sign up and start posting themselves.

There are also free directory listings where you can add your forum link for free in the sports forum sections. It might not have a huge impact but can't hurt to try. Search Google for 'free directory listing' and you should find a bunch.

Another thing people do on the forums that I comment on is post the odds and who they think is the best bet, the over, under, ext... I usually comment on one of the games

Yeah that's a good point you make Edgar. Posting odds is a nice opportunity for people to chime in with their picks, which side they feel has good value etc.

One of the cool things about the WBX website is that we have a feature built in for people to share the odds on forums. If you click onto any market there is a Share function where you can click on 'Image BB Code' and it will generate a link that you can copy and paste on a forum and it will display the odds for that market as a screen capture, along with a link to that market as well.
