Default Need Help and advice! No payment

I earned approximately $500 with a sponsor affiliate program but they will not pay me because I did not cash the check in time. I admit, its partially my fault because I moved and perhaps should have updated my address with them.

But now they are saying they will not pay me simply because I never cashed the check in time. There is nothing in their T&C which states that they can withhold payment to affiliates who do not cash their checks in time.

Is this reasonable for them to withhold payment or should I be paid for my services?

IMO you should still get paid for your services.
Do you mind sharing the program so we all avoid being their next target?

I agree with the above responses. They should still pay you.

What country are you in and how old is the check? It is not always as strict as people are led to believe, and I have seen that you can sometimes deposit a supposedly "stale" check with no problem, at least in the US.

Hi, I am in Montreal Canada. I just assumed the check would not be cashable because it was written 14 months ago. But I will try to cash it and see what happens.

I will get back to you on this. Hopefully I am able to cash the stale dated check.

If you can't cash it then I'd like to think you would be able to get it reissued.

At the same time I think they would be probably in their right to deduct the cost of cancelling and resending the cheque if they do.

Ditto on baldidiot, reissuing with the same check fee as usual would seem in order. Before you deposit - consider not saying anything or drawing attention to it when you do. I can't speak for Canada, but I am aware that can also be an issue in the US. For instance, a teller may be "brainwashed" to follow the party line if they notice the date, even though if they had only taken and submitted it there might be no problem at all. The risk is that if it does get rejected somewhere along the line there may also be a fee, but in my view it can often be worth that risk. You can call anonymously beforehand to find out the general policy on that.
