I would say that chewing nicotine gum is a million times better then smoking cigarettes! (Probably a million times healthier aswell)

The e cigs are good but I think I really need to break the actual habit of smoking after doing it for so many years. So its gum for now!

For me its just the usual "learn new exciting stuff this year and do at least several things you are very afraid of or thought you could not do"

As long as it works Gemma, gum away...

Careful not to overdo it though, it can weaken your teeth. Personally I've been expressedly forbidden by my dentist to chew gum since I have ceramic coatings on my molars.

I sneak a wee piece from time to time and get chewed off when I go for my appointments

Do you manage to find a few stuff that you're afraid to do, every year? I couldn't for the life of me think of more than 2-3 total. I am either very brave, or very uninformed

Personally, my goal is to work as hard as possible at becoming a poker / casino affiliate. I do not have a specific predetermined goal because that would be setting myself up for failure. So my only goal is to give it my best shot.

I have the habit of either overdoing or underdoing whatever I set out to do.. I started out 2011 with good motivation on all fronts, but it seems I have a tendency to work to much on one specific thing and then get tired of it, instead of spreading my work out, and work a little bit here, and a little bit there, to keep the interest and motivation up..

Note to self! It is still january. Plenty of 2011 left.

I also have that problem. If you find a way to kill it, let me know. I've started something and gone gung ho on it already and I'm getting sick of it

The only prob then is making sure you don't replace the habit with putting other things in your mouth like food. That's the biggest thing for people who quit. They think breaking the habit will help them stop, but instead they start eating because it's a similar action and end up just getting fat.

How's it going now anyway? I hope you're still off.. And in that case, you should only have another week or so to go before the habit has been broken.

It's going ok although I have slipped up occasionally Usually accompanied by alcohol but Im 95% on track. Putting on weight was probably my biggest fear (typical female) & I can see how people do it so easily when quitting smoking. It has been an effort not to eat more. I'm really into the gym lately so I'm hoping I should be ok

I am not a smoker myself, but have any of you heard of the Carr method for quitting smoking? I have heard extremely good thing about it. I've even seen it at work when my father (a 30 cigs a day smoker for 25+ years) quit smoking out of nowhere and without too much effort.

Yes it was Allen Carr that started this whole thing lol as I got his book for Christmas. There was a point near the end of the book where it said if you are still carrying cigarettes or tobacco at this stage (as you are advised to continue smoking whilst reading it) then reread the book from the beginning now. I was still carrying tobacco. So.... I guess I should read Allen again before I dismiss him as I know he has a high success rate. I was sick of reading him after the 1st time so I read Russell Brands new book instead, now thats finished I will go back to Allen

Alcohol is the biggest thing to stay away from when you're quitting.. At least for the first 3 weeks..

People blame the getting fat on their metabolism slowing down because they aren't having nicotine, but it's because you are replacing the habit with another.

You're almost 3 weeks in now.. keep it up! Soon your willpower muscle will be strong enough to get through the alcohol related cravings

Yeah! It is weird but really useful in some cases.

When I was pregnant I was worried about not being able to quit but actually I didn't have to put in any effort. By the second month, the smell had become totally repulsive to me.

Glad to see it's helping you as well.

Have you had any dreams about smoking yet?

No I haven't actually which is quite weird as I dream about pretty much everything, maybe I think about smoking too much consciously for cigarettes to be in my subconscious.

My New Years resolution is to make more effort at being more romantic with my wife - I seem to fall into a rut with my real job and working on the site that it sometimes takes a back seat (along with many other things)... so I'm trying to notice when I fall into a rut.

As for my site - to make my first commission and keep learning more about SEO
