Welcome to the forum. You have a website already is this an established site or new project?
If you have certain skill levels in developing or seo etc... you can certainly share or exchange ideas with the members.
You will also be able to find out who's trust worthy as an affiliate program by reading other affiliates experiences with them.
Don't just sign up because they are sponsored ask if anyone is with them.

To start you should read the threads in https://www.gpwa.org/forum/freshman-forum.html and maybe post your site for a review when you feel you have already done your best. I ended up changing so much, but you have to trust the people that have been doing this for a long time. That helped my site a bunch.
