    Default newbie question

I am just getting started on a poker website that I will be using to drive affiliate traffic, but worry about running afoul of google (dont want to violate their terms of service for adwords). I know to not use adwords on my poker site, but is there other things I need to be careful of (I dont want to lose adwords as I have several sites that are non poker sites (diabetes, psychology, that need to be monitized with adwords).

There's no problem with adding a gambling site to your portfolio, won't affect anything in adwords or adsense.

Is it a brand new domain? I would say just focus on adding regular content to the site and building trust before going too crazy with any link building campaigns.

Have About, Privacy, Contact, Terms Of Use, Safe Gambling pages too.

Google has to deal with a lot of gambling spam, so you have to word hard to build trust.

As far as i know, if you are using the right page optimization there's nothing to worry about. First work on your site's metas, content and other related work to optimizing the site. Then build for quality back links by doing submissions (directory, social bookmarking, article submission, etc.). Also work on quality content and join forums to gain more quality back links.

I was under the impression that adwords was fine as long as there were no affiliate links on the site... but I could be wrong. Why not email them to confirm?

I have to agree with JoeAdams. i've spent the past few months learning about SEO and i have to say Organic SEO is the way to go. you'll get respect from both google as well as your visitors. of course, it'll take a bit of time and effort doing it this way but the good side of it is it's free.
