Default Google's Matt Cutts on disavowing links and affiliate links

At the SMX advanced conference in Seattle, Matt Cutts addressed the possibility of disavowing links, no follows on affiliate links, negative SEO and other SEO matters. Search Engine Land has a decent transcript and summary.

You can watch the video from SMX Seattle if don't want to read the transcript.

P.S. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for this google tool that will allow you disallow links.
I don't believe google will EVER bring a tool like to webmasters.
In order for you to 'disavow' links you will have to be able to see all your inbound links and I don't believe that google will ever show webmasters ALL their inbound links... Way too much chance of someone figuring out the google secret algo with information about ALL their inbound links.

This video is great. But it's not from SMX Seattle. It's a very funny mashup video by Sam Applegate that's definitely worth watching.

It's interesting that they singled out site-wides....

Why would Matt Cuts then even mention this disavow tool if they don't have something that might be released sometime.

I agree that Google will not let us have too much information but they still need to find a way to fight Negative SEO so they will have to do some compromise decision.

LOL, how on earth the webmasters will be able to remove, say, 100K+ links, after an xrumer blast, for example?

I don't see any real advantages in this tool, even if they'll release it.

Great interview but you can't believe in everything that Mr. Cuts says...
