    Question No follow question

"You should use nofollow on T&C links and your regular aff.links though"

I got this message from a friend. I am not ecpesially inserted in no follow links.
Is this very important will it hurt your seo and ranking if you dont use no follow ?

Do you know an easy way to create a no follow link ?
Why do you use no follow ?

Using nofollow for diversifying, it looks really strange for search engines when the site has 99%-100% dofollow backlink profile.

What if I used a no follow link for all outgoing affiliate links, except towards the operators I actually like?

Would that look unnatural, would it be good for me, etc.?

I think it may be unnatural only if all links from your site are nofollow, but still, Huffington Post and The Guardian making nofollow almost all of their external links and their sites are still growing.

There is no free lunch, especially in the gambling world. You make all links to operators nofollow, except if they pay you (yea yea is against Google guidelines, sue me). Why you would want the gambling operator to rank higher? Do you think you have any chance to outrank them for anything brand related if you do-follow link their pages from your website? Not going to happen. So either get (a good) money, or put a no-follow.

Aff links should be NF according to Google... at least a few years ago. Nowadays a number of SEOs have told me Google no longer cares.

    I personally still NF them.

We handle the vast majority of affiliate stuff correctly because if it is a large enough affiliate network we know about it and we handle it on our side. Even though we handle I believe the vast majority of affiliate links appropriately if you are at all worried about it, I would go ahead and just add the nofollow because you might be earning money from that."

    my personal opinion:
no harm in adding nofollow. I'm providing the programs with players already, i'm not willing going to give them free links too!

It doesn't affect tracking. No follow value just prevents giving juice to the targeted page.

I'd use nofollow for all links where you earn money (and also more links, like T&C), because then it's clear for search engines that it's not a paid link for which they could penalize you.

No follow links will not affect your rankings negatively.

You should be using 301's anyway with a Ni index robots.txt file. Saves link juice across your website increasing your rankings.

    No problem.

Many Affiliates will link directly to the site they are advertising, By just adding the affiliate link to a ''Play Now'' button on the website etc.

That is wrong in many ways both for on page SEO and tracking and statistics. What you should be doing is (if your on wordpress) is installing a plugin called ''affiliate links lite'' (theres many) which then allows you to make links like this.

    www.mywebsite.com/go/leovegas

When the user clicks that link it redirects them to the affiliate link you have set.

Doing this ensures your website is not losing link juice all over the place. Not only that but doing things this way allow you to track how many visits a link has had and mother other reporting statistics which help you to find out which affiliate programs are pulling your pants down.

And it's also easier if you need to update links or swap them

Ok, thanks my friend just told me that it looks better with: http://www.mywebsite.com/go/leovegas than a long URL string from the affiliate tracker link if you use (affiliate links lite). But do you really boost your seo by not loosing link juice ?
