Default PokerStars begins returning funds to U.S. players

PokerStars has announced it has made arrangements with a U.S. bank to begin the process of returning player funds to former customers in the U.S. The company continues to operate from the domain name PokerStars.com after a deal was reached last week with the Department of Justice.

The GPWA has a press release from the poker room:

(PRESS RELEASE) -- In agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice, PokerStars has made arrangements with a US bank and today began the process of returning player funds to former customers in the US.

The funds to cover these withdrawal requests are readily available.

All player deposits for players outside the U.S. are also completely safe and secure. PokerStars has always held all such funds in accounts that are segregated from company assets, in compliance with the strict licensing laws of the Isle of Man.

The company continues to operate outside the U.S. under the www.pokerstars.com domain name and retains its position as the world’s number one poker site.

It's really nice to know that the company keeps player funds completely separate from any assets. Good to see PokerStars has been relatively quick with getting US players back their money.

Even though Poker Stars is cooperating and returning back players funds, the original charges still stand apparently? They should at least lessen the charges, unbelievable. The UIGEA is ridiculous, and is a violation of international law.
