Language choice

Hello
I run a bitcoin betting site and I want it to be multilingual from the beginning.
I would like it to have 4 languages. Optimal number due to management and budget.

The main language is, of course, English.
Another one I decided to use is Russian (Yes, I know problems with blocking, but I have a great translator and I decided to use Russian)

And there are two language positions to choose from.
I am thinking about:
-Spanish
-French
-Swedish
-Danish
-Portugal
-Maybe some Asian language.
-Ukrainian (only because I have a translator, but I'm not convinced somehow, so UA is not)

What ideas do you have?
The easiest way would be to add Spanish and French, of course, it also looks better in terms of costs than niche languages. However, such a Swedish market is also tempting.
What two languages would you add in English and Russian?

I think Spanish definitely as this one help you to target different countries. And the market is really tempting.

And about the 4th.. From your list I would choose Swedish or French.

But personally I would run with German.

"Ukrainian" is an odd choice.

Seems you forgot about your Asian option. Mandarin and Hindi sounded like a nice choice.

Have you considered adding a "translation plugin" to supplement your choices?

English, Spanish and Russian sound perfect.

Hindi is also a good guess, as much of bookmakers and affiliates are going to this big market.

Do not forget Brazilian Portuguese and just Portuguese. I like the value of Portuguese players and Brazilians are also good for sports.

Perhaps you are right to replace Ukrainian, to be honest I considered it because my Russian translator also speaks Ukrainian fluently and I kind of considered this language by the way.
Chinese ok, but apart from writing the content in Chinese, it's hard to do anything else. However, this is also an option.
I didn't even think about Hindi due to the high level of English in India, but I will read about it.

But I do not advise you to use the Ukrainian language. In Ukraine, 70% of the population speaks Russian.
Of course, it is worth starting from the frequency of requests for your topic in Ukrainian (preferably, look through Ahrefs)

It depends on the product you have.. if your products fits specific market, so you must choose that language. If to talk in general with no connection to you product and marketing strategy, besides Englisj, you should definately consider Spanish. It is spreadad both, in Europe and in South America. Also, there is no need to translate in Ukrainian if you have russian version.

I would recommend you go with Japanese.

It's not an easiest option, but from my personal experience - Japan is a very good market.

I'm Japanese myself (so writing articles is not the "hard" part for me) and I recently started my first website.

Japanese would be a great choice for sure, big market etc. But I don't know if I could handle it. Also, the translation costs are not low compared to other languages.

I gave up on Ukrainian and in its place I was just thinking about some Asian language, such as Chinese / Japanese, but I don't know if it will be too difficult.
Besides, I was thinking of French / Portuguese or Swedish.

I'm sure Sweden and Scandinavian countries in general are great markets.

Not sure about the translation costs for that region, but if it fits your budget - go for it.

Honestly, adding new languages is very addictive. However, too many can be a management nightmare, even with a 1 to 1 translation.

It also depends on what software you are using. I think the easiest way is TranslatePress, but when testing most plugins, it seems that this plugin blocks the development of the website and is suitable for simple translations without the website localization and a larger campaign for a given region. Therefore, tools such as Polylang and e.g. Loco for translating plugins seem to be better.

I was thinking to add over 4 languages. 2 more. However, 6 is rather too much.

Maybe you have some thoughts about the multilingualism of your sites in general and about it in general.

Interesting topic, and one that may change over time due to political climates as well as trends.

However, I think if you are going to invest the time and effort into translations, get them done by a writer or translator that is a native speaker of that language or at least has a proficiency or experience doing so in that language.

Just a straight translation by software is most often not good enough as there are often changes in grammar, or the general way residents of specific countries targeted say things.
