    Thanks for the round-up of news.

    I'm not sure I see much difference between a Kahnawake operated sportsbook and a Kahnawake licensed sportsbook, other than the fact that the operating profits might stay within the region - and that might actually be good news and a better solution to their unique situation?

    Thoughts on that?

    Gooner,

    That's an interesting point. To me, the big difference here is that single-game sports betting is clearly illegal in Canada. And it's the one type of illegal gambling that the federal government is serious about enforcing. So if the Kahnawake are operating a sportsbook that targets Canadian customers, they're essentially operating an entity that's within jurisdictional reach of the Canadian authorities. In theory, the Kahnawake has sovereignty as a First Nation. But theory and practice don't necessarily coincide under circumstances like this.
