Default ways to bring quality traffic on gambling website

    Hi!

My name is Radu, i am from Romania and i own a sports betting website (betforcash.ro) since last year. In the last two or three months i really changed the gear and started offering really high quality content.

I didn`t think too much about money, but now i am starting to want to monetize my website. The problem is that i have very few visitors, just over 100 per month and I don`t understand why. I have eight tipsters, 5-10 picks per day, all free, serious arguments brought to each of them, nice profit (the picks), nice articles but few visitors

it`s true that i haven`t invested yet in advertising, but the question remains: WHY so few visitors? I was active in betting forums, i got links on some sites, but all for nothing. What was i doing wrong in all this time? I am planning to invest in advertising very soon, but before that i would like to find out how i can bring quality traffic, free or paid. I mean people who will come back, not traffic exchanges or smth like that. Because if in 1 year of activity i got so few visitors maybe i am missing something and i don`t want to start throwing away money on advertising if i don`t know how to do it clever. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks a lot!

Just like what I've posted on the other thread first you should create a content/topic for your visitor to talk to or discuss plus it's not English so your target audience is limited to those who understand such.

I started in this business back in 1999 with the attitude that "if you build it, they will come" Lots have changed since then, but the principles have not. People have to find your site.

That isn't the truth. There are millions of websites all competing for my audience. And often folks are looking for a specific piece of information, and not a whole new website to visit daily.

I'll skip the whole SEO lecture... you can find that elsewhere...

But you need to get your site listed places that your target audience will take notice. Perhaps a press release is a good start? Syndicate your picks through RSS? Perhaps a daily picks video or weekly recap to put on YouTube? Is Romania ahead of the curve with mobile technology - if so, that is another way to get your site noticed.

And, if you have money to invest (I started on a shoestring budget - so I know how it goes).. but a good way to quickly get started is to buy some advertising (banner ads, text ads, or possible offline) Get your picksters to invite their friends.

Dont be afraid to try something new - but sitting back and waiting for people to find you is very slow.

As a footnote, I would also recommend social networking. There are several threads here at the forum about it.

I especially like Twitter because people who are interested in my info "follow me." In one day alone, I picked up 5 poker players over a post on my Twitter account.

Its just another way to "shout above the crowd."

    Good luck!

Just now I see the replyes. Thanks guys, you really gave me some quality feedback. Some of your suggestions I allready tried, some worked.

Some of them I will surely try in the future.

Regarding my traffic, it has grown to about 200 per day, still without advertising, i am sure your ideas will help me in my quest.

    Thanks again!

Just be creative, it doesnt even have to cost you a dime!
Give your visitors a good reason to come back and more importantly, give them a reason to tell others about your site aswell.

Nah. If your on geotarget, create a specific page for english version. The only thing they had to change is the language.

With regards to content, since it is about gambling, few are just interested to stay longer on the site because of the niche. Just post a specific and new issue that pertains to the positive side of online gambling.

    Hi Rosik

I've read most of the replies to your question about getting more visitors to your website.

I run a busy mobile gambling portal and found one of the best ways to draw in traffic is write news items, all the search engines love new content, that old saying "content is king".

On your site include content like daily promotions, try and get the brands you promote to put together personalized promotions, thats another great traffic puller and then blast out the news on twitter and other social networks.

Get your domain registered with http://www.casino-seo.com, that will improve your site ranking and if you would like to, link your site to mine. Any links you do get make sure they are good quality sites, very important.

Try not to get more than say a couple of links per month as this ensures your site will not be listed by search engines as a spam site.

I hope the above helps you.

melvin - first they have to come in, to find me. that`s my problem. then they will come back, they all do

bbonline - thanks for your opinion. it`s something that I will consider, an english version, geotargeting ...

mfavourite - good point but I allready have a dinamic website. new content is generated 8-10 times per day. as for the links, i try not to have incoming links from english websites. it`s artificial traffic, i write in romanian, they will never come back. anyway I really appreciate the proposition.

    thanks guys!
