We are Orthodox( Bugarians), myself personally. Thanks for the note , Nenad

For us Christmas passed on 25th as with the Catholic guys.

So count 13 days up and yes Nenad will celebrate it with all the other people from Serbia, Ukraine and Russia on 13th.

There are many Russian guys in the forum, but they might started preparing for New Years Eve - new style if they live abroad.

It is good to celebrate both holidays in different styles and times.

Christmas is the best time of the year, for me personally.

New Year's Eve is best for kids with all the fireworks and glamour

Wish you all the best for the new 2021 year ...

I personally did not know too much about Orthodox Christmas. After seeing your post I researched and found it very interesting. Always great to read and learn about different cultures and traditions.

    Yes, same.
If you found the Ortodox Christmas interesting you should definitely check more about Old New Year (Orthodox New Year). I found their traditions very interesting.

And overall time between Dec 25 to Jan 14 is my favorite time during the year. Its magic time

It would be correct to say the Old (Style) Christmas. Some Orthodox countries celebrate Christmas on 25th December.

I'm from Ukraine, and people here celebrate Christmas on both dates (25th December and 7th January). Speaking about myself - I don't celebrate any kind of these events. I a man of progress and technology, born in the family of nuclear physicians

The progress and technology are just means to know more about spirituality.

Yeah, progress and technology that is based on peer reviewed scientific facts leads us on a path to to know more about spirituality that does not stand up to scientific scrutiny at all.

Faith or belief is not a reliable means to the truth. Just because you, or seven billion other people, believe something to be true does not make it so.

Just like when you are not aware of something, doesn't mean it's non-existent. Faith, belief or religion has nothing to do with spirituality. If the physics helps us understand things on conscious level, then the spirituality is the same physics but acting on subconscious level. Maybe words like spirituality scare you, then look at it as a science and not faith or belief. And don't forget, the more you know the more you realize you know nothing.

Spirituality is nothing more than the warm fuzzy feeling people get when they listen to a moving sermon, great political orator, great music, great poetry, view great landscapes, images of gas clouds in the universe and many other things that may blow their hair back. It's just an emotion portrayed as something mystical.

You're right, spirituality does have a link to science, it's called serotonin.

    That is marketing, not spirituality.
If you talk to God, you are praying; If God talks to you, you have schizophrenia.

Well said. But I do not agree with "Faith, belief or religion has nothing to do with spirituality."
I think the term spirituality is now used exactly where faith, belief, religion or god was used and can be equally used. Because indeed the religions are failing and people who are not stupid, but believe in god, see it. So they want to have their belief the real one, the clean one.

I remember a talk with my ex-business partner and how I told him that I believe in God and he told me: nah, you are not that stupid. You are just spiritual.

*** that. I believe in God, and it is the best thing what can happen. I hate churches (both the meetings of weak idiots and the buildings) and I hope I have nothing to do with the old perverts who are having sex with small boys. I also hate Christmas, Easter, cumpleanos and all stupid human celebrations which are just a show of human stupidity and commerce.

But believing in God or spirituality or whatever... to feel it/him, through serotonine, dopamine or oxytocine... just give me more. Just please no more those wiseasses, who have no brain, just some grey and white matter in skull, which is making some electric signals. They think, that they think, but indeed it is just some random activity of nerves and that activity produces random nonsenses about God and spirituality and whatever. And I have to read this nonsense under any online text that aims just a bit towards transcendence.

Reading the nonsense from wannabe scientists, who should at least stick with their own methodology, where no one argues about things that can not be scientifically refused, makes me so awkward for them. As I felt sorry for Leopold and his write ups about Bitcoin.

The belief is here to be believed, not to be disputed. That is the whole point of it, stupid. To believe in something that is proven - it is not a belief, it is a fact. The miracle comes exactly at the point, where we, the all time arguing people, can shut up and just believe. Floating in nowhere. Then the kingdom comes, because who is able to believe in nothing, then can much better cope with analogous insecurities of life. Who is not able to believe is lost in hell, because even in his life he is trying to play everything safe.

As I read in one comix: hell is not a place, it is a state of mind.
If you talk to God, you are praying; If God talks to you, you have schizophrenia.

I know English is not your first language, but you are contradicting yourself in that statement. Do you mean:

"Then the kingdom comes, because he who is able to believe in something, then can much better cope with analogous insecurities of life. He Who is not able to believe is lost in hell, because even in his life he is trying to play everything safe."

If that is what you mean, then you are making some huge assumptions about those who do not believe. When I stopped believing in a god I escaped from a mental hell and now live in a logical, semi-sane world (even though there is now a terrorist residing in the White House. If I "play everything safe" is that not the result of evolutionary self-preservation instincts?

I cannot believe in something that is just based on an unverifiable belief.

    It's unbelievable...

There is just One science, everything else is its branches. Just like different colors of a disco ball come from the same light bulb. The unknown part of that One science makes people feel that there is something more, calling it spirituality, mysticism and so on. Sayings like "the more you know the less you know" tell us we all are missing something important, basic.

Scientists say there was nothing and suddenly the big bang comes. It's exactly that nothing is what controls the big bang evolution. An explosion in the air is different than the one inside a room. The same way the subconscious rules the consciousness.

Everything what is material needs a immaterial room.

The way some people like DaftDog push its belief in science, reminds me of religious bigots. It's very dangerous to push the belief that we are only bodies, because this way we associate the human being with a robot.

In the end, the spirit is who makes the difference, including among scientists.
