Default Paddy Power in trouble with ASA

It seems the advertising standards authority in the UK has taken exception to one of our ads for Paddy Power Trader.

Big write up on the BBC here:
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/7362081.stm

And a response on our blog here:

Im still laughing at the 1st paragraph on the BBC article:

"A press advertisement that linked online betting with increased sexual prowess...".

All I can say is HELL YEAH!

    Cheers

"We concluded the ad suggested this man's 'shortcoming' had been overcome by the wealth he had acquired through gambling and therefore that the ad implied gambling was a way to improve self-esteem or gain recognition or admiration.

"We concluded the ad was irresponsible."
No offense to anyone but I can see where it would be taken this way. I don't think it was Paddy Pokers intention. However, it reminds me of when I was scraped by black hatters. Their sites claim gambling will cure depression, make you an airline pilot, help you lose weight etc etc.

NOT that I think that is the case here at all but I'm not surprised someone complained.

    Best of luck.

The billboards where in Canary Wharf in London, where 99.9% of the people who saw them would have understood the "make money from being short" strapline.

But like you say mojo, there will always be someone who complains
