How many of you do (or have done) any paid advertising? If so, where do you advertise - websites, newsletters, etc ? Have you had positive results?

I've also tried buying traffic from FindWhat and have lost hundreds of dollars with no return.
Thanks for your replies.
So, most people on here rely simply on search engine traffic? Interesting....
findwhat.com, enhance.com, etc etc are all overrated.
In my experience Overture is really the only place where you get a good return on your investment. Although the CPC is very high.

I think they also run advertising in other European countries as well.
I've also used GoClick, with some success, as well as trying out a number so "niche" PPC's that offer $$ to try them out. Some of them have proved very good for targeted traffic.

In the UK they do. Go to yahoo.co.uk for example and search for online casino - all those sponsors are by way of overture uk. But for upwards of £14 per click for top positions on the most popular keyphrases you need a hefty budget.Originally Posted by kidd75219
seems like a lot of people here have used PPC at some point with mixed success. anyone ever pay for a banner ad/text link (not PPC)? if so, any positive results?
This really boils down to different things working in different ways for each site individually.
Run some limited testing watching the results carefully and base your decision on how comfortable you are with the results per dollar spent.
