We're going to a friends 30th birthday/halloween party this weekend and we've been told everyone has to dress up! No idea what I'd go as, I'm not a fancy dress kinda guy...

No - Halloween is really not a big thing down here at all.

However, we have bought some special Halloween treats like jiggly eyeballs and severed fingers (made from that lolly jelly) that look really gruesome - just in case some of the local kids decide to knock on the door ...

They'll be served from a big glass jar with a couple of big hairy (toy) spiders guarding them ... "mind the SPIDER!" ...

Half the people here can't even pronounce Halloween what's left to celebrate it . When I was in the States I've been to like 3-4 parties, I was once dressed as a zombie, once as pirate.

To be honest I was left with the impression that Halloween was celebrated only in US.

Halloween is a great time. I'm going to a costume party on Saturday although I don't have a costume idea yet :/

Last week I was at a costume party where you had to dress as something beginning with the letter "B"... i was Bono

We also made some pumpkins, which took some work, but once you get them in the window w/ the candle it's totally worth it!

In all likelihood I'll be going to a Halloween Ball on Tuesday. We are actually having public holidays here on Tuesday and Wednesday so they are milking Halloween for all its worth this year. Matter of fact, Halloween hadn't been celebrated here until the past 3 years or so, but now its gathering momentum.

The ball will be held on a private estate (you can take a look at the gallery here: http://www.domaineanna.net/gallery.htm) - I imagine at night with the right decorations it will be deliciously spooky.

Most probably will go as a sexy vampire or witch

On the other hand, seeing as how I caught a ball in the face on Tuesday and ended up with a black eye and busted lip, I might go "au naturel" and will be scary enough

I'm running out of ideas!! In the past Ive dressed up as my grandma, a caveman, a smurf, a cowboy, a scarecrow, an American tourist, etc. But I don't know what to do this year... Any good ideas?? I might repeat the grandma one! I need to borrow her walker...

    So many awesome ideas!

Australia as a country doesn't celebrate halloween, but there are a few americans in the company who have a party each year, and I never miss an opportunity to dress up!

    The inbred idea is hilarious!

I've done the blood stained surgeon. I did the nurse a couple of years ago (photo was in one of the old GPWA mags). Last year I went as spongebob squarepants.
This year I had planned to go as lady gaga but it seems my boobs don't stay in the outfit and it has no back. So I got another costume - I'm going as Naytiri (i think thats how its spelled?) from Avatar.

I bought a blue body suit with a tail, a wig (with a big f-off plait down to my bum), the contact lenses and blue body paint to paint the rest of me.
the body suit isn't flattering but it will do. I went from no material to full body covered LOL

My other half is going as Alan from the hangover. The funniest part is that his personality totally suits the character. He has one of the baby harnesses and is going to buy a doll to be the baby. I also bought him a yellow shirt with a dog on it about a year back (that alan wore in the second movie) so he is wearing that too. LOL

    I love dress up parties!!

If you're actually bald (looking at your screenname) you could go as a monk.

It's probably more of a case of jumping before I was pushed - combination of a receding hair line and shaving. Monks not a bad idea, but I'd have to get a monk coat...
