    Default Paying for advertising

I am wondering if people here pay to market their websites? What ways do you market your website and how much is your cost per click?

On a website from an adwords partner I got this snippet.

The average CTR of a Facebook ad is around 0.05%. The average CTR of a Google display ad is around 0.4% — almost 10 times higher. Search ads have even higher CTR, around 2%. There are any number of reasons why Facebook’s ad CTR might be comparatively low:

Facebook’s ad formats are more restrictive and less engaging than Google’s.
Facebook ads are more obviously ads, whereas Google ads blend in more seamlessly with the organic results.
People are not in shopping mode when using Facebook.

I would stay away from facebook, the conversion rate is most likely be low. There are a lot of threads on here about that, and how people lie about their age and how tough it will be to hit your target market.

If you are out of the US, you can get a license for google adwords, there are some threads on here about that too. That would be my first choice however you can always email other webasters and see if they would like to do a link exchange to advertise your site with or without paying for it.

Youtube videos are great ways to market your website, and other videos sites such as vimeo.

Print advertising is a good way to market your website, you can have brochures made up, business cards, ext.. For instance your niche is sports betting you can give them out when you are at happy hour or at a game.

After many years I have come to the conclusion that it is next to impossible to have success without paying for advertising. You can produce great content, good SEO, guest posting, anything you want, but it still takes such a long time and you may or may not become successful. Only luck can make you big without investing. You want results, you have to pay. Then more exposure will come, links will come naturally due to bigger exposure, and then you start to really be in business.

I don`t like Facebook, but for sure it is not a bad idea to try it with a low budget. It is worth it, but only on a small budget.

I don't use paid advertising yet. But I'm going to since according to my experience seo and free promotional methods are good but not enough for market approach.
In my opinion, advertisement should be place on resource where target audience is, for instance, thematic forums.
Adwords is good, but it's complicated for gambling, unfortunately.

I agree with you but Facebook is also a place to grow with exposure.
