website is live? have i made a mistake?

Good evening all,

This will be a little bit of a long story and probably some blabble so please bear with me.

I had started mucking about with a website some 6 months or so ago and have decided to try and get it live. Because this was only a small hobby at first as i am a full time carer, I didn't really now much about how to get my site onto search engines. So at the beginning i signed up to a few link exchange websites, Review websites etc in which has got me some traffic but i do not know if it is "GENUINE" Traffic as i have had so many impressions and a few clicks but no sign ups.

I have a fare bit of content on the site as it is but none of it seems to be getting indexed by google etc.

I guess my question from here is What do i do? am i doing something wrong?

any help would be appreciated.

Hey Matt

Did you manage to get some stats program into the site so you can see countries, ips etc where visitors are from? Something like google analytics? That might help a little in determining what's happening because it will show you what people are searching for in the search engines to get to your site as well as their location.. It could be something as simple as that they are not finding what they are looking for or they don't speak the language.

If you'd like to email me your url I would be happy to check our your site and see if I can notice anything obvious.

Just looked at your site and it seems that at least 85 pages from your site are indexed by Google.
The positions are low but your pages are out there.

I Matt, you haven't made a mistake but you're probably coming to the same realisation that the rest of us came to when we start, gambling affiliates are not an easy buck.

That's not to say you can't make good money, you can. But you need to be patient and create as much unique content as possible. The web is a graveyard for affiliates who gave it a go for a few months and gave up.

The best advice I can give you is study the successful affiliates to see how they've got their ranking.

I was never in it for a quick buck like i said at the start i pretty much made a forum just out of boredom and a hobby. since it gives me something to do im not fussed when i see results or if i do.

i have noticed im pretty low on most of my keywords, There is one thing i don't get. my best search *keyword/s* is PRETTY BANNERS which i am on page 2. Google has picked this up from a forum post in which is now deleted,

can someone tell me how i can check the keywords i have in my meta tags and how there faring on the search engine?

hope that makes sense..

Hi Matt

Stick at it you will get there. You could do to make a few changes to your site. I would suggest changing the Title Tag from <title>Home</title> to somthing like <title>Online Casino Talk</title> Or even <title>Online Casino Talk Gambling Community</title>

Also adding in a meta description and meta keyword tag wouldnt hurt.

Keep an eye on your google-analytics and do what you can to keep your traffic count climbing, if you do somthing everyday it will soon add up.

Regarding sending a few clicks to casinos, it really does vary depending on the quality of the traffic you are getting. If you are getting highly targetted traffic and sending it to good quality casinos that accepts that players from the region your traffic is coming from then you should get a good convertion rate. Otherwise you might send XXXX unique visitors and not get a single player.

So make sure your traffic and the casinos you promote line up, eg if your traffic is all from Canada then there is no point sending it to a Rival powered casino that does not accept Canadian Players.
