I wonder if this will also mean they will stop spamming recipients on email lists given to them by their members without permission?
I am sure you have all seen those emails, "so and so" invited you to join pinterest. The problem is they were not given permission to add that email address to the list of those they are approaching.

Does that mean that it will only remove links that contain an affiliate ID, such as httpx://www.shop.com/affiliateIDxyz while ignoring links that don't contain an affiliate ID even if it's pointing to the same domain, such as httpx://www.shop.com ?

I think it does, though it hasn't been confirmed. The business goal behind this is to force people to shop with their advertisers, and eventually, and their own "buy" button.
