I was playing with Google translate today and converted my English to Latin and then the Latin back to english. Here are the results.

The problem with all automatic translators, including google's, is the need to edit their results by a native speaker, in order to avoid serious misunderstandings at crucial parts of a content.

For example, The German translation of the original line text " These casinos and selected poker rooms have proven to pay winners and provide excellent support to their players over the years." doesn't make any sense. Also the reverse translation to English perverts the intention of the original text:"The selected casinos and poker rooms have to pay winners and provide excellent support to their players over the years".

I was involved many years back in the development of a automatic translation system for the Commission of the European Union. The problem we were confronted with was, that the automatic translation works fine when a straight literal translation makes sense. But, as soon as some idioms and phrases are used in the original language which cannot be literally translated, the results are of no use.

This problem has not yet been solved, 40 years later!

In the above example, "have proven to pay winners" is a typical English phrase which cannot be literally translated into German.

It was a technique that some black hat sites did to make unique content. The search engines would have considered it to be unique even though it was of low quality and not for users.

I can image with the Panda Update that there is no point even trying to see if it would still work.

These translators are only good for a couple of words or a phrase at most. As you have noted, never put in more than that as you will find yourself with an incredible load of nonsense on your hands.

2) Set the translator to translate German to German
