Red face Please, test my website speed!!!

    Hi to all!

Dear colleagues, could you test my website speed http://www.777-online-gambling.net. I was told that my website is very slow on 56k connection (63-70sec).

If you use 56k connection tell me whether my site is slow or not.

I'm very worried about it All members of the webmaster talk forum told me that my site is very slow. Help me to elaborate it.

    Thank you!

I don't have a 56k modem and I don't know anyone that does. I'm on Roadrunner, and your site loaded in less than two seconds. Hope that helps.

I can't say for a 56k connection but I would say it was around 6 seconds on a 512kpbs Broadband connection.

Ditto on not having or knowing someone with a 56k modem.

But I did check your sites speed at xxhttp://www.widexl.com/remote/search-engines/metatag-analyzer.html and it showed 1 second.

    Hope this is helpful!

Hi aksana. Where I live there is no hi speed available yet unless i want to shell out $600 for satellite. I am on 56k so my friends call me wilma flintstone lol.

The text on you site loaded in less than 30 seconds and the full images completed in well under 2 mins (about 90 secs). That is pretty good for 56k. That is the way it is for us so don't be discouraged. Some sites are several minutes. Hope that helped.

I wanted to elaborate further and I tested some other sites here. They all run about the same with the exception of the ones that dont have alot or big banners and images. Those are under 10 secs, text appears right away for me. On dial up there are alot of factors. If there are alot of windows open or you are loading something else forget it! If you havn't done a norton sweep lately or cleaned your computer it will go much slower. Also, banner farms never load completely and some forums are very frustrating with graphics and music added. I can usually tell with those and I just leave.

Some day I will come into the current century.

I'm in the same situation of mojo, i also have a 56k connection.

Doolally: content and text on your page loads quickly, i just had to wait to have also the white and blue backgrounds loaded. Average load time (images and text) is about a minute and half.

Aksana: as mojo wrote, also your website loads quickly, i wouldn't be so worried about the speed.

Doolally, your site is very good in little over a minute to completely load. The text showed up in about 20 seconds and that's great. That makes a big difference so your visiters will be reading while the rest is loading and will barely notice. If the text isn't there then they are looking at a blank screen and will be more likely go away.

That happens alot when there is a music player or video on the index page. It buffers and dominates the the rest of the load so you cant see anything until its done. It could take forever for us. I think it is safe to say you will lose the dial up visitors to such things and it is good to avoid to be 56k friendly. Better to put a link to such things.

Also, once the site has been loaded the first time, it loads pretty much immediate for subsequent visits.

    Dear Aksana

I think that you must think that the connection some your visitator are more 56 kb : better client are thoese that have fast connection.

A person that have 56 kb it is not a good client.

    Hi helpyou,
It is interesting that you feel this way. I value all visitors regardless. Could you elaborate?
    Thanks,

thank you Mojo and Paolino for your 56k connection, it is very useful for us.

and as for me, Helpyou, all visitors are important for me, whether they have 56k or 512k connection, therefore I was worried about my speed on 56k connection.

Just because someone doesn't have a fast connection does not change the value of the player. Some people just can't get a fast connection yet.

I agree that not everyone has access to fast connections. As a web designer, I have always tested my sites at 56k to make sure no one is left out.

With gaming, though, I do a little heavier on graphics than other sites, but always include a good deal of text to read should the 56k take awhile.

I use to beat my head against the while trying to speed things up, but since the text is at least readable (and the most important anyway), I stopped worrying.

Adding my 2 cents hope you don't mind...

I've been doing web dev since 28K modems were the ducks guts Programmers had no choice but to optimise their code back then!

Not as important these days (old habits are hard to break) I still think it's a good idea to test ever site on a 56K simulator. I do.

Lets fast track to today, not every surfer on broadband has a 512K + connection. We're all aware (or should be) that if a pages doesn't load in less than 15sec < (total loaded content) then there is the possibility that they'll hit the back button. Which = lost gambler.

I'm just as guilty here and it's something I've seriously become slack towards lately. Thought I mention this as it's porbably something worth thinking about.

    Cheers

    Dave
