Plug in for country drop down with flags
Hi -
Does anyone know of a plug in that allows you to display country names and flags in a drop down as a solution for navigating between country directories or sub-domains for a mutli-language site?
thanks,
Mark

be carefull with wpml...it works, but it will kill your website speed if you will add many languages... personally i have had very bad experiences with them. the problem is that all country info is stored in the wordpress db, and no matter which page you are the wpml script is loaded....which is bad for speed and seo.
secondly when you are going to use many languages the admin will be a pain in the ass as well, very easy to make mistakes, and very easy to do things wrong...
i personally would just make it yourself in html/php, which is pretty easy to do and will max you site speed.

Thanks - we are not really looking for a translation service. That is separate. All we want is a drop down feature with link and flags to link to different sub-domains or directories for each country. Seems like a really simple feature to add to a website - but our developer says there are no plugs in that do it - only standard drop downs without images (flags). So would need to build from scratch. Not sure if those plug ins would do this.

If your website is a worpdress based one,You can try polylang plugin and see. If not, you may have to hard code it mate.

Things like that are better just to hard code in rather than a plugin, Needless plugin which will slow your site down.
