Poker players depositing but never playing?

Last month I noticed 3 poker players sign up and deposit but not play even a single hand.
Each player was at a different room and the deposits varied in size: £150, £500 and £1500.

I've not seen this before - I've seen players deposit and only play one hand (assuming they did their whole stack in one go), but never no activity whatsoever on a depositing poker account. Anyone have an idea of whats going on? I guess they could have all decided not to play and just withdrawn, but it seems unlikely.

That is odd! I have seen it before as well -actually many times. This month i have around a few of them as well. I always wonder why myself. I think I had this happen on one room where the player was from a forbidden country. It is strange though. Not like you can ask them either since you do not know who they are.

The players country did cross my mind, but two of the aff programs display the players country and they were both UK.

It may depend on the backend and how they report. Also the player could deposit one month and play the next, so does the backend keep track of that?

I have seen this.

In fact I had one player deposit $400 in a racebook in December 2010 and didn't start playing until a few weeks ago after he deposited 2 more times. (unless the stats the first part of the year were incorrect which is totally possible)

Sadly this is a group with a quota and even though he has deposited almost a grand, I will never see a damn dime of it because I am not planning on playing the quota game with them and have been removing and replacing their links for quite some time....

I have seen similar things in casinos, but usually the time frame from deposit to play is much shorter.

Thanks for the input guys. Actually all three aff programs use IA software, so any activity is reported.

It's interesting to see that it seems to be a pretty common occurance.

This is really strange. Maybe they saw some good deposit bonus and made the deposit, but have no time to play the current month
