Default PokerStars, Full Tilt move to dot-GR sites in Greece

The Rational Group's online poker sites (PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker) are now complying with Greek online gambling laws, offering their games only on .gr sites.

The sites share a player pool with the larger .eu sites, but they may not be the best deal for players, though.

Winnings of €100 or higher are taxed at 15%, automatically withheld at the end of the day. The tax rate rises to 20% for daily winnings above €500. The impact of the new “Player Withholding Tax” is substantial: Calculated on a daily basis, it is impossible to net out losses from winnings over time. Money received through promotional bonuses and other prizes is thought to be exempt.

Are winnings taxed or is revenue taxed?

If you deposit 500 and win 100 and try to cash out 500, are the taxes only on the 100?

It appears that the tax is applied on winnings while they are in your account - calculated daily.
This clearly is a tax grab - and is not appropriate - unless you can some how get a tax credit for losses?

So you can lose 100 Euro on day one, then win 100 Euro on day two - be still taxed at 15% at end of your winning day (15 Euros).
Madness - if it stays like that I do not expect dot GR sites to be around long tem.
